There have been melt downs and high achievements in the fashion world this week. From the voluntary administration of Ed Hardy, to the modern movement of Marc Jacobs, Rescu. brings you all you need to know.
Breaking news: the hottest labels to launch at the new Westfield Sydney
After many months of planning the Westfield Sydney development in the Sydney CBD is coming together. The new development will see whole new designers to Australian shores, and will offer a new shopping experience for consumers. The new Westfield Sydney store has been designed by Tokyo design firm Wonderwall, and we can expect a state of the art centre with all of our shopping needs!
We have confirmation of some of the great labels that will be apart of Westfield Sydney. Some of the brands include Zara, Prada, Miu Miu, Mulberry, Zimmermann, Napoleon Perdis, Little Joe and many more.
Zara is of course set to cause the most excitement for the new Westfield Sydney, as it is the first time Zara has opened in Australia. The Spanish run company will set up shop on the Pitt St Mall part of Westfield Sydney. Zara store will be 3 levels and will cover 1,830 square metres, and will include women’s, men’s and kid’s clothes.
Ed Hardy Australia in voluntary administration
Infamous label Ed Hardy has been placed into voluntary administration across Australia. The label has suffered from severely slow sales of late, resulting in the outcome. Christian Audigier is the designer and founder behind the label which launched in 2005. Ed Hardy incorporates edgy streetwear with their well known colourful tattoo like designs. The label hosted 10 stores across Australia, and several have now closed including Sydney Paddington store, and Pacific Fair in QLD.
Marc Jacobs is leading the industry with a plus size collection in the works
We have always loved Marc Jacobs, but now we have even more reason to- as there is talk of the label branching into a new plus size collection. Robert Duffy, Marc Jacobs’s business partner, tweeted to their loyal fans “Listen, we are in the very beginning stages of talking to a partner about plus sizes… Relax. It won’t be based on the collection line.”
The new turn for the label doesn’t come at a surprise, after Marc Jacobs embraced plus size models and designs on the runway of Louis Vuitton for AW 2010. Plus size model Crystal Renn has stated of the new plus size opportunity “I’m not surprised by Marc Jacobs deciding to expand his range of sizes. He has always been a forerunner when it comes to the industry shifts and trends.”
