Sydney will be injected with runway fashion this week with the launch of Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival, we bring you insider info on a VIP staff member of US Vogue, plus more!
Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival kicks off today!
The most important news must come first, and this week it is the kick off of Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival which began today with the Marie Claire gala opening. Sydney fashion lovers (and hardcore fans from interstate and internationally) will be getting their frocks and heels together this week to witness an array of Australia’s most talented fashion designers hit the runway.
Sydney’s Town Hall is the key spot to be this week, as all the shows will commence there. Rescu. will be bringing you runway reviews, backstage gossip, and of course beauty news (because behind every great runway show, there is a great hair and make up artist too!)
If you can’t make it, make sure you check our fashion pages daily for your front row fashion fix! Starting tomorrow, the designers will each showcase their latest collections, beginning with the Myer Spring Summer fashion launch at 12.30 pm.
Later in the evening the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week review shows begin, with the first day hosting a number of great Aussie designers including Ginger and Smart, Gary Bigeni, Camilla and Marc and more!
U.S retailer Nordstrom reinvent their online store
US retailer Nordstrom has revamped its website, and aims to make shopping online a wonderful experience. The retailer is experiencing its first major make over in 10 years, and we can’t wait to check it out! The new site is working closer with social networking, whilst also improving the speed and easiness of shopping online. The homepage is already sporting a fresh youthful look, and Nordstrom’s leading brands are a sure fire way to gain the attention of fashion lovers. Some of the brands available via the site include Vera Wang, Shu Uemura, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, NARS and many more!
Grace Coddington to write auto-biography
If you have not seen The September Issue yet, then you may have been hiding in a fashion rut. The documentary which focuses on the daily running of U.S Vogue (largely following the life of Anna Wintour), is a must see for anyone who loves fashion. The highlight of the documentary though is watching the wonderful ways of Grace Coddington, Vogue U.S Creative Director. Now, we welcome the news that Grace is writing her own memoir, with the help of former Men’s Vogue editor in chief Jay Fielden. The two have paired together previously when they wrote “Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue”. We can’t wait to get our hands on a copy!
M.A.C collection pulled due to blogger outrage
M.A.C’s recent collaboration with Rodarte has been pulled from shipment after many fashion bloggers viciously criticised the collection for the use of its names. The beauty giant had named some of the products after a town called Ciudad Juarez on the border of Mexico. The reason the backlash occurred was because the town has a horrific record of murder, drug trafficking, and the death of approximately 400 women, including crimes of sexual violence. Despite the criticism from fashion bloggers, we applaud MA.C’s quick reaction to the outrage, and their sincere public apology to everyone offended or involved with the project. M.A.C were honest and decisive when they realised the negative reaction and immediately commited to a donation of $100,000 to a support organization for the women of Ciudad Juarez.
