Today Fashion Week finally drew to a close, and whilst we were sad to hang up our heels and say farewell to the hub of sartorial creativity and excitement, the final day of the week was a fabulous one. From Alice McCall to Hayley Elsaesser and Ae’lkemi there were plenty of hair and makeup looks we loved and can’t wait to incorporate into our own beauty arsenal.
The day took off to an impressive start with crowd favourite Alice McCall. The designer created a runway dreamscape with candy coloured and graphic looks that inspired the imagination. The creativity carried through to the hairstyles, which were created by KMS California’s Jenny Kim.
‘The theme of the collection is ethereal, it’s inspired by being in a dream-like state, we wanted to add a tougher aspect to the girls as well,’ said Kim.
The resulting look was an edgy, slight wave style with blunt fringe extensions added to some of the models looks. Hair was showered in a soft glitter that was subtle enough to disappear into the hair and they sparkle vibrantly under the lights of the runway. The look was straight up cool and fabulously feminine, something we’d love to wear to a party or festival.
The theme of fun and experimentation carried through to Hayley Elsaesser’s show which evoked a rockabilly chic. With pastel blue eyeliner, and bold red lips, the makeup look created by Miss Betty Rose and The Academy of Makeup Australia was both experimental and highly chic. Hair was high and quaffed in classic 50’s rockabilly style for a highly memorable runway show.
For Ae’lkemi, the team at Schwarzkopf Professional created a fresh take on the casual bun. In a style that is easy to adapt into your own street style or party ready look, hair was blow-dried for volume, triple moussed and texturised, then tied into a ponytail and simply looped through one more time. We’ll definitely be incorporating this look into our own hair style repertoire.
