This week Carla Bruni’s made an unexpected return to modelling, Fleur Wood is making a surprise move to New York, we’ve got a shocking sneak peek of a lustful Westfield campaign for Autumn, and Tiffany & Co stunned with their National Designer Award winner. It’s all about surprises….
For years she’s been most famous as the spouse of the French President.
Now, however, ex-supermodel Carla Bruni is moving to make that ‘ex’ in front of the moniker disappear.
Bruni, who was one of the big crowd of supers in the 90s alongside Naomi, Kate, Cindy and Linda, dabbled in music and movies before marrying Nicholas Sarkozy and becoming France’s fashionable First Lady.
(Cue the shock and horror that a woman who once dated Mick Jagger and paraded for Victoria’s Secret should meet the Queen.)
Now she’s returning – but not with a miniature campaign or a slow burn, of course. She’s going to be the new face of Bvlgari haute joaillerie campaign, shot by Terry Richardson.
It was such a closely guarded secret that the news only broke when she was pictured with the photographer in Paris this week.
Bruni never modelled for Bvlgari in her earlier modelling days, but we doubt she’s lost the spark. Bvlgari also favours antipodeans – they’ve been using Eric Bana as their men’s fragrance face.
What do you think of Bruni’s fabulous return?

Fleur Wood’s announced a big move – she’s headed Stateside.
It’s all part of the award-winning Aussie designer’s retail strategy. She’s hoping to open up new boutiques and forge new partnerships in New York, hub of the American fashion world.
However, she already has a foothold – a partnership with US flagship of the indie and quirky, Anthropologie, lasting years.
And it’s not all about business. It’s also so that Wood’s husband can take up a new position in Manhattan with BBCNews.
Wood married Nick Bryant in a famously delicate and pretty ceremony in Sri Lanka in 2008, starting a major trend for low-key, Indian-inspired weddings and 1920s-style lace.
Wood’s got a growing Hollywood fan base, so we predict she’ll make regular trips cross-country to LA to liase with famous stylists like Rachel Zoe.
The Fleur Wood look is all over the catwalks this autumn – delicate lace, white-edged tailoring and a soft edge. We can expect New York’s hipsters and fashionistas to act fast…

Rescu. knows all about the fashion lust that starts a new season.
Now an exclusive sneak peek of the Westfield autumn 2013 campaign has revealed our secret – that every woman feels it once in a while.
Starring model and now famous street style blogger Candice Lake and a wolfish David Williams, the short film is a play on many things: the Little Red Riding Hood aura that surrounded many collections this season, the current scarlet trend and, of course, handsome men who bite.
It was produced by Alan Weekes and directed by Gracie Otto, and features a dazzling array of the new Westfield collections, from Gucci to Louboutin to Hugo Boss.
Our picks for the new season? The surreal cape and the to-die-for (literally) two-tone wedges.
David ‘Wolfman’ Williams is a shoo-in for the part of the part-wolf paramour, since his famous beard marked him out on the rugby league pitch – but this is an entirely different sort of game, with Lake being pursued and ultimately taming, with the power of fashion, of course.
What do you think of the fashion, the film and the autumn seasonal offering?

At a loss among the Hugo Bosses and Tom Fords for new, exciting menswear?
Tiffany & Co has your answer – indirectly.
They’ve just given their National Designer Award 2013, not to a womanswear label, but to men’s fashion designers From Britten.
The award – which was presented by Victoria’s Secret angel Barbara Palvin, who was rumoured to be dating Justin Bieber – puts the spotlight firmly on the fledgling brand. And it’s two brothers, Tim and Alex Britten, who have to bear it.
The award’s been dominated by Sydney thinkers over the past few years, with Romance Was Born and Dion Lee being the most famous winners – but the Britten boys are Melbourne-born, and the city’s rejoicing.
From Britten is still a very young label, but with the $10,000 prize we can expect them to branch out to meet stockists and go national – and we can’t wait.
And you’ll want to steal the clothes – impeccable cashmere, tailoring like a dream and high-tech touches. Get ready to raid your boyfriend’s closet…
