Christian Louboutin, king of desirable footwear, is releasing a new line… just in time for Valentine’s Day. Rescu. is drooling.
20 years in the fashion business is basically aeons.
Christian Louboutin, however, is still going strong, and the shoe maestro sees no reason to slow down with his 20th anniversary this February.
On Monday he released images of the new capsule line he’s designed, inspired by his favourite shoes from the entirety of his career.
The 20 (of course) shoes will be on sale worldwide in March, but you can look at them now at Vogue UK.
The famously red-soled designer has had a rough 2011, with his copyright suit against other designers for using red soles on their less-hallowed shoes dragging on without resolution.
However, Louboutin doesn’t appear discouraged. He declared that this was “the anniversary of [the brand’s] first young adventure” and was delighted to be “one of the world’s most visionary and important shoemakers.”
Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo may come and go, in other words, but Louboutins are forever. Will you be saving up for a Louboutin anniversary pair or handbag?

She’s one of the most famous talk show hosts in the world, and definitely the most famous out lesbian.
However, some people in the US aren’t as enamoured with Ellen Degeneres as we are.
A campaign called One Million Moms, part of the ultra-conservative American Family Association, which opposes gay marriage and gay rights, has been getting attention for their anti-Ellen campaigning.
Specifically, they want JC Penney, the American fashion retailer and department store, to remove Ellen as their spokesperson, claiming that she ‘doesn’t represent family values’. They also threatened to boycott the store.
Degeneres has been married to Aussie actress Portia de Rossi since 2008 – de Rossi recently changed her legal last name to Degeneres. The couple’s wedding often makes lists of the most stylish nuptials in history.
However, JC Penney is having none of it. It released a simple statement on Monday saying that it ‘stood behind its partnership’ with Ellen.
Degeneres is increasingly a fashion darling – she’s landed a prestigious advertising campaign with CoverGirl, at the frankly amazing age of 54.
She also hosted the Oscars in 2008, in a legendary red velvet tuxedo, and is apparently in talks to consult on the 2012 Academy Awards, too.
Her take on masculine chic always lights up the red carpet – what do you think she’ll wear this year? Image: Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi on their wedding day.
It’s been an unusually cool summer- so perhaps it’s time to take autumn seriously in February.
The big trend? Make like Sherlock Holmes and get yourself a cape. Not, however, the ones you had as Supergirl on Halloween – a classy all-in-one bell-shape, with holes at the elbows for your arms.
The cape has been seen everywhere in the Northern Hemisphere winter, so be prepared for it to make a full-on onslaught down under, where it suits our conditions perfectly. Warm enough to be snuggly but airy enough not to kill you from heat exhaustion? Check!
The key to a cape is proportion. Balance its volume with skinny jeans or tights – now is not the time for palazzo pants.
Cropped capes are very cute, but work longer ones if you think you can make a 60s-style aesthetic look cool.
Look for big buttons, chains, details like leather piping, and darker colours – forest greens, camels, rusts. No pastels here, and only work a print if you’re supremely confident.
They’re sufficiently lacking in ostentation to wear to the office, if you do them right. Pair them with heels and elbow-length gloves and you’re set for a night on the town, too.
And if you’re naturally big-bosomed, find one with a waist-tie to give you some definition, otherwise your proportions will be wasted. Image: Street style capes, Paris.
David Beckham’s half-naked torso has become as much a part of the advertising world as women in bras for Victoria’s Secret.
However, Beckham has announced that he’s hanging up his underpants.
The culprits? His small children.
He explained to the press this week, as his latest line for H&M went on sale, that while he’ll keep selling underwear, he’s not going to promote it on billboards any more, as it embarrasses his kids.
“They were like, that’s really good, but everybody’s going to see you in your [undies]”, he told an interviewer shamefacedly.
He has announced that his ‘naked days are over’ – even at home, considering he now has a baby girl to look after.
Beckham has four children, three boys and a girl, with Victoria Beckham, who’s been dressing the youngest in couture ever since she was born late last year.
We at Rescu. might go into mourning at the loss of half-naked Beckham billboards.
