Elle Macpherson Fired Her Manager Before Hacking Scandal
It’s not just politics and media where the United Kingdom’s hacking scandal has wreaked havoc – it’s emerged that the fashion world has suffered, too.
The News Of The World stands accused of hacking the phones of thousands, including that of missing child Milly Dowler, actor Hugh Grant and officials in the British Government.
This week Elle Macpherson’s ex-manager revealed that the supermodel fired her, convinced that she was leaking information to the press, when in fact it was a tabloid reporter who had hacked into her phone.
The manager, Mary-Ellen Field, stood accused of telling the British press intimate details about the Australian model’s person life, even though she protested her innocence.
MacPherson even packed her off to a detox facility, believing that she was in the throes of alcoholism, and shortly afterward fired her.
Field has said she was devastated at the wrongful accusation, but Macpherson has at this point refused to apologise, merely saying that she “made the right decision”.
Perhaps there’s more to this story than an innocent manager and an unscrupulous hacker after all.

Lady Gaga ‘Will Be Cremated In Chanel’
Lady Gaga continues to attract high-fashion notice, even as she does increasingly commercial things – such as opening Gaga’s Workshop in Barneys New York in the last week, a kind of Gaga-themed fantasy-land to sell merchandise.
What did Gaga wear to the opening?
A Cinderella-inspired Chanel gown with suiting, of course. What else?
Gaga apparently loves the Lagerfeld-designed dress so much that she commented at a press conference afterwards that she’d like to be ‘cremated’ in it.
As the gown looks supported by a crinoline and several petticoats, the blaze would be fantastic. As Gaga intends, presumably.
Unfortunately there are no plans to make the gown commercially available to brides who want to make a Chanel-flavoured splash – and presumably Chanel will request the gown’s return, perhaps only to be used again for Gaga’s worldly exit.
Gaga’s costume archives are probably massive, and may soon be the subject of legal challenge – she recently parted company, acrimoniously, with her manager/image consultant, who may demand a portion of the extravagant costuming.

TopShop Finally Comes To Australia
Melbourne is currently the luckiest place down under.
Venerable high-street British chain TopShop, the line which collaborated with Kate Moss and is at the very cutting edge of affordable British cool, is now open – and it’s causing decided excitement.
With Zara and other Northern businesses setting up new stores in Australia, drawn by our strong economy and cheap spaces, Australian shoppers are becoming increasingly spoiled for choice.
So what are our favourite TopShop buys?
Their lingerie line is always a classic, particularly for younger shoppers, with vintage-inspired lines and fluffy frills. They’re also doing a beautiful set of sheer, printed blouses, perfect for summer and very on-trend.
Steer clear of the more one-note buys – short shorts, for instance – and look for their well-made classics. Also, a hint: their men’s jewellery is often just as interesting as their women’s, and many stylish British girls go straight to it when looking for an edgy piece.
