Need a reminder of summer? Giorgio Armani is collecting happy snaps of people on holiday wearing sunglasses – to make a gallery of sun and style.
Giorgio Armani has launched a new phase in his career: making Armani the most social-media savvy of all the luxury houses.
Thus far he’s succeeding; while Karl Lagerfeld posts pictures of his kitten Choupette on the internet, Armani is organising groundbreaking Twitter conferences.
Armani’s new move is pure fun – but we like its style. He’s launched the digital photo gallery ‘Frames Of Your Holiday’ to tie in with the launch of his eyewear collection ‘Frames Of Life’.
Normally viral campaigns have some prize involved – a free pair of sunglasses, for instance – but this is entirely for the joy of the photos. Users only have to do one thing: submit a photo of themselves, wearing sunglasses, relaxing on holiday. Now this is something Aussies can excel at.
They don’t even have to upload it onto a special interface. Armani has brought in a programme, followgram, to ensure that wherever the photo is posted – Facebook, Twitter, Google+ – if it has the hashtag #FRAMESOFLIFE, it’ll be uploaded onto the photo gallery.
The one catch? The photos have to be in cult product Instagram, not on any traditional photo format. Put your Canon lenses away and focus on casual shots.
The aim is to build a crowd-sourced gallery of people enjoying their holidays – simply to make people feel involved in the idea of a sunglasses collection. Genius.
Will you be submitting your holiday snaps to Frames Of Life?

Biking is the eternally chic way to get around. Who can take their eyes off the models biking from show to show around Paris?
And it’s not for nothing that most luxury designers have their own (incredibly expensive) bike for sale. However, there’s one element which puts a snag in the works – helmet hair.
Particularly in the searing Aussie climate, it’s the bane of everybody on a bike – sweaty, flattened, cramped hair that makes you look like you just survived a boxing match in a sauna.
The one, very dangerous way to escape this is not to wear a helmet at all – but with the roads more dangerous than ever, Rescu. is thankful that somebody has invented a way to combat helmet hair once and for all.
The Airhead by Two Wheels Cool is an Aussie-designed product – a six-pronged ventilation element to put inside a helmet. It’s simple to use – you just place it inside the helmet, label at the back – and very sophisticated.
The Airhead is a way of increasing ventilation through the helmet – helmet hair is caused by humidity and sweat, and the raised Airhead produces more airflow. Bad hair days dismissed!
With this on the market, Rescu. anticipates that suddenly helmets will come back into vogue – and become an extreme fashion accessory. Pucci prints, leather covering and gold accents, anybody?

Racing isn’t all about looking prim, proper and ready to meet the Queen.
This season’s accessories are all about sleekness and eccentricity – a way to really show your fashion cred. Rescu. is loving the race-going styles from Nude and Skin, two footwear designers who’ve decided to go into headgear and accessories – just in time for Spring Carnival.
The look? No lace anywhere to be seen – it’s all about refined, sleek, unfussy chic. We’re loving the clutches – simple shapes in cool contrasting neons and lemons, with a hint of silver.
There are also dark floral options, if you just can’t abandon your tea-party style.
However, their real movers and shakers are the headwear department. Fascinators are hard to do well – go badly and you end up with a muss of fluff on your head. Nude and Skin have produced a line with classic colours – yellow, peachy red, royal blue – and much more interesting designs than the usual bunch-of-feathers.
We’re particularly loving the French-inspired designs, mimicking stylish black-and-white hats from the 1930s. Tres Parisienne.
However, the stand-out of the entire collection? The houndstooth bunny ear fascinators. Rescu. loves a big splash, and this is just the way forward for the Anna Della Russos of the racing crowd.
Will you be wearing Nude and Skin come racing season?
