Ever looked at H&M’s designer collaborations with Versace or Anna Della Russo and sighed longingly? Well, your wait is over – they’re coming to Oz, and we have all the gossip…
The wait is finally over.
News has come through that H&M, the Swedish fast-fashion chain specialising in Scandi cool, will set up its first Australian store early in 2014, and they’re currently scouting for locations.
So what about H&M do you need to know? They’re famous for collaborations – they’ve launched capsule collections with Madonna, Karl Lagerfeld, Jimmy Choo, Stella McCartney and everybody else you can think of.
Just last year they made fashion headlines by collaborating with both Versace and Maison Martin Margiela – from flashy red carpet to edgy oversized couture.
That’s the H&M mandate – bring great designs to the masses. Their own house line is scarcely less intriguing, considering that Beyonce’s just been named the superstar face of their new campaign.
A highly secret photo shoot in the Bahamas was busted after one of her back-up dancers spilled the beans on Twitter. (Oops.) And the exclusive preview image above shows that H&M looks smoking hot for next summer.
H&M is also now one of a trio. The parent design house does high-end, impeccably made workwear with the label COS – any young fashion editor worth her salt owns at least one of their gorgeous minimalist pieces – and now they’ve launched a mid-range affordable label, & Other Stories.
For the moment we’re just going to get H&M, but if it’s a big success the other two labels may move into the market too, much to the happiness of every fashionista worth her salt.
So start browsing H&M online and counting the days till you can get your hot little hands on a piece in person…

Lover of fashion photography? Like combining shopping with a bit of artistic flair?
Westfield Sydney is currently answering your prayers – it’s holding a Vogue fashion photography retrospective, to accompany Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
Titled Vogue Beyond The Lens, the full-scale photographs will overtake the complex, revealing the variations and elegance in local and international style over the years in Vogue Australia.
It’s been specially curated by Vogue Australia over three levels, and the photographs aren’t the end of the story.
There will also be video interviews with leading Australian designers – no news on which ones yet, but as Westfield displays prominent stores from Alannah Hill, sass & bide and RESCU’s own Alex Perry, we’re hoping for some very exciting video snippets.
Plus Vogue has promised trend reports alongside the archival images. We’re guessing they’ll show which looks from the 60s and 70s heydays are about to make vibrant comebacks for autumn.
The whole experience is capped off by an opportunity to win a holiday at the Diane von Furstenberg penthouse on Hayman Island, a designer collaboration we broke the news about in 2012.
Will you be going to the Westfield Sydney experience to bask in some free fashion glory?

One of our favourite parts of Easter – beyond the chocolates? The Marquise Easter charity auctions.
Aussie kidswear label Marquise has been encouraging prominent Australian designers to fashion a singlet for charity for several years now, and these year’s results are absolutely divine.
And the cause couldn’t be worthier – 100% of the proceeds go to the Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital.
The list of participants in this year’s design auction reads like a who’s who of Australian designers and celebs. Kirrily Johnston, Alannah Hill, Seafolly and Camilla and Marc hold up the side for fashionistas, while luminaries like Brett Lee and George Gregan have delved into design for a good cause.
And the results are what you’d expect – Alannah Hill’s is a glorious girly extravaganza, Kirrily Johnston’s is covered in pearls and Brett Lee’s is a gorgeous testament to any sporty baby with a cricket ball motif on the tummy.
It’s all part of the Good Friday Appeal, which has raised more than $245 million for the Children’s Hospital since its launch in 1931.
We want to see some Rescu. readers weighing into the auction fun for a fantastic cause. The auction lasts from Monday 25th March to Good Friday March 29th.
So get bidding over at goodfridayappeal.com.au!
