This week we go from the heights of rock n’ roll, with Hedi Slimane dressing Keith Richards on tour, to the prettiest porcelain prints we can find. Read on for all the news…
It’s official: Saint Laurent is obsessed with rock and roll.
Hedi Slimane, who just put out new ads for the fashion line using Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love, is designing the tour wardrobe for rock legend Keith Richards on the next Rolling Stones tour.
It’s all signature Richards clothing – leather vests, long scarves and grungy T-shirts – and Keith will wear it all over the world for the Rolling Stones: 50 Years And Counting tour.
We’re pretty sure Mick’s jealous.
And if you want to get your hands on a piece of rock history paired with impeccable design credentials, you’re in luck – Slimane is planning to sell the wardrobe under the name Saint Laurent Stage Wardrobe.
It won’t be the ones worn by Keith himself – we suspect they may smell slightly by the end of the tour – but it’ll certainly be carbon copies, and fashion editors the world over will be looking at a bit of masculine rock n’ roll tailoring.
It is, of course, not cheap: a single racer jacket designed for Keith will retail for nearly $5000.
What do you think: genius or not rock and roll at all?

Suri Cruise, age seven, has been on best dressed lists since just after she was born.
The blue-eyed baby made the front cover of Vanity Fair with her now-divorced parents, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and has since made fashion history with her girlie designer outfits, love of headbands and huge collection of buckled shoes.
Now a rumour has circulated that the precociously fashionable girl has been signed a $1.5 million deal with a New York department store (no names were mentioned, but Bergdorf Goodman’s and Saks Fifth Avenue were the biggest candidates) to design a children’s line.
The bad news? It’s 100% false, according to a spokesman for Katie Holmes.
There will be no line, no accompanying fashion blog written by Suri, no nothing.
It’s a pity, because at seven years old Suri would have entered the Guinness World Records as the youngest fashion designer ever (the youngest currently is ten, and the youngest haute couturier 16).
However, we’re pretty sure that, like most seven-year-olds, she has enough on her plate already.

Be brave as the weather gets colder and opt for a print to brighten your days – and Rescu. has the perfect one.
Porcelain print – otherwise known as Delftware, Blue Willow or that glorious blue and white you’ll have seen on your grandmother’s best china – is massive on dresses and shirts at the moment, and is the perfect way to achieve lovely layers in cooler weather.
Roberto Cavalli is to blame for the particular resurgence this season, but it’s been a favourite print of Preen, Valentino, Mary Katranzou, McQueen and Rodarte over the past few seasons – a pretty good fashion pedigree.
So how do you dip into the porcelain trend? A blousy dress worn over a shirt with a cardigan is very in this season. We’re loving Modcloth‘s porcelain dress with high neck and peplum-style overskirt.
There’s also Carven‘s Safari Shift Dress, which can be layered with tights and heels for a spectacular look. Want to go Aussie? Collette Dinnigan has a lovely flared skirt-style china dress in Prairie – perfect for muted daywear or fun evenings.
If you’re more into outerwear, go for a Cavalli white tuxedo jacket with porcelain lapels, or a Pull And Bear china-print bomber jacket – the big jacket silhouette of the season. There’s also 3.1 Philip Lim‘s cord motorcycle jacket in delicate china-inspired florals.
Trousers in prints continue to be a summer-to-winter trend, and layered with muted jumpers and great boots they can make a huge splash. Rhythm‘s white jeans with porcelain blue sides are a great first-date outfit to wear with a blue sweater, while Zara has porcelain print trousers in all-over blue and white for a sophisticated work look.
If you want to go the shirt route, pick up a white and blue porcelain-print blouse from SheInside – they’ve sold out multiple times and are the bona fide hit of the season. It’s white with porcelain-print elbows and lapels – subtle yet incredibly on-trend, and a great base for layering with whites, greys and blues.
And then, of course, there are the scarves – an essential part of any autumn-winter look. McQueen‘s porcelain silk scarf is glorious but insubstantial, and Topshop‘s cotton version may be better for combatting the wind. Accessorise, obviously, with a cup of tea…
