Juicy news from Australian jeans label Ksubi – one of the founding duo is leaving. So is it bitter or smooth sailing? Read on for the gossip….
They were one of the biggest names in modern Australian fashion.
Now, however, the two founders of jeans label Ksubi have split up, saying they want to “end on a high”.
Ksubi was at one point among the world’s most exclusive jean labels, numbering alongside Seven For All Mankind, and its two founders, Dan Single and George Gorrow, have become fixtures on the international chic circuit.
Their trademark jeans, with the famous Japanese-style white-ink label and calligraphy, were seen on celebrities everywhere.
Ksubi’s first troubles emerged when it was forced to change its name from Tsubi in a copyright battle, and it earned a reputation for controversy when it released live rats onto an Australian Fashion Week catwalk in 2001.
Then it went into liquidation in 2010, and was bailed out by Aussie mainstay Quiksilver – but the charmed period hasn’t lasted.
The label is now 12 years old, and the founders insist the split is perfectly amicable. Gorrow says he simply wants to spend more time with his wife, and Single has no comment.
The future of Ksubi is now in the balance – will Single bring another creative director on board?
Or perhaps he’ll sell, and leave the jeans empire for good. Rescu. will keep you posted.

RESCU’s brought you all the gossip on Madonna’s jewellery and clothing line, Material Girl, including its many different faces – Lourdes Leon, Kelly Osbourne, Taylor Momsen and now Georgia Jagger.
Now Aussies can sample the Material Girl goodness for themselves.
Myer has snapped up the range, which this season is playing on Jubilee fever with a red, white and blue theme.
The accessories are all old-school 80s Madonna, with skulls, crosses and neon. We’ve loving the chunkiness – weighty accessories are very in this season.
Elsewhere, it’s all printed tanks, floral leggings (a big hit on the runways for Spring) and sleek pastels – proof that Material Girl isn’t just a rehash of old Madonna looks, but a forward-thinking edgy brand with its finger on the pulse.
It’s definitely oriented young, as most looks are worn with dotted sneakers and there’s a definite hint of tie-dye, but certain pieces can be incorporated as fun classics into any wardrobe.
Are you looking forward to seeing Material Girl hit Aussie stores?

It’s not often that technology gets to be the star of the show at New York’s tents.
However, Google knows how to stage an entrance.
The brand’s new glasses, which show video and take pictures on a single screen by the right eye, were on the runway for Diane Von Furstenberg’s New York show.
It was a shrewd choice by the brand. DVF is a classic label, and Von Furstenberg herself is head of the Council Of Fashion Designers America, one of the most powerful fashion groups in the world.
If anybody’s going to make Google’s Project Glass – as the glasses are called – fashionable as well as appealing to geeks, it would be her.
However, they caused such a buzz that the DVF show’s fashion itself nearly went unnoticed, with Diane, Google’s inventors and even guest Sarah Jessica Parker sporting the glasses.
Design-wise, they’re pretty slick – and come in numerous vivid colours. The future is here, fashion-wise.
It might not be long before the entire Front Row is wearing the Project Glass glasses. However, they’d better make a tinted version, otherwise Anna Wintour won’t be interested…

The boot update right now? Expect the unexpected.
If you want to be on top of the trends this spring, discard all your winter preconceptions. For an up-to-the-moment look, you have to investigate florals.
Many fashion girls in the Northern Hemisphere have been wearing floral Doc Martens, pairing the heavy, all-weathers boot with delicate, airy prints straight out of a spring catalogue. It’s all about embracing contrast this season.
Wanting a high-fashion version? Go for the Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem posie-print numbers – they’re in deep, on-trend blues and yellows, and the silk-on-leather cover will make you want to frame them.
Want a cheaper alternative? Dr Martens boots in all kinds of florals, from 1800s roses to hyper-neon looks to Liberty London prints, are available through ASOS – look on eBay for cheaper versions.
For evening, excess is in. Alexander McQueen produced high-heeled boots so covered in shearling they’re almost sheep; rustic details like suede, buckles and different shades of battered leather are on trend.
Not sure about going all-out? Just go bright – a pair of bright yellow or pink Wellington boots for spring showers will perk up any outfit, and bootie-length ones are in this season.
