This Fashion Wrap is getting into the festive mood, with our exclusive accessories guide for Christmas Day (think festive but still stylish), RESCU’s favourite fashionable Christmas cards and a brand-new collaboration headed by Karl Lagerfeld. Read on for all your shopping gossip…
Is yours the type of family that insists on people wearing ‘seasonally appropriate’ outfits? Feel drastically out of place in your Vivienne Westwood while everybody around you is in Santa hats and reindeer T-shirts?
Fear not. Rescu. has the best festive wear for holiday cheer without sacrificing your chic reputation.
Want some British love this season? Pick shoe goddess Charlotte Olympia‘s Holiday collection.
Black velvet with mistletoe on the toes (points for the pun)? Check. Deep red with beautiful little sleighbells on the ankle strap? Double check.
Or you can always go for some signature-red Louboutins for a burst of Christmas cheer. Rescu. loves his V-Neck Patents and Torero heels, both in scorching shades of Louboutin red – with, of course, red soles.
More the scholarly type? Bring along a bright-scarlet Cambridge Satchel Company satchel, now on sale at ASOS.com for Christmas. They’ve been everywhere and are fab for storing tiny gifts.
For a subtle accessory, NotOnTheHighStreet is stocking a set of nine Christmas charms in delicate silver on a red ribbon – silver sixpences, a Christmas pudding, a tree, a wishbone and more festive traditions.
Dinosaur Designs has some glorious bangles that can be combined in festive colours without losing the chic factor. Mix and match their resin creations in red, green and gold for some Christmas cheer – their small Wishbone bangles start at $55 each.
Running around after screaming kids (and adults)? Have no fear- pick up a pair of red velvet slippers with embroidered toes. We’re loving YSL and Miu Miu‘s versions, both of which scream ‘Santa Baby’ without being too hot for an Aussie summer.
And to get some holiday bling, we’re loving Ippolita‘s red, green and white drop earrings at Net-a-Porter – four stones in Christmas colours and 18k gold.
We guarantee you’ll still look glamourous even with a paper crown on your head.

Now this is one collaboration we’re not entirely sure about.
Yoko Ono, of John Lennon and artistic surrealism fame, has done a collaboration on menswear for Opening Ceremony.
Apparently it was inspired for a few designs she drew up for John before he was killed, in 1969’s Fashion For Men. And the results are so out-there we predict some brave, ironic fashionistas getting their hands on them for the next shows.
The stand-out pieces? Pants with huge prints of hands on the crotch and buttocks, in vivid white and black. Some pants also come with messages printed across the knees.
It’s certainly arresting – and definitely not safe for work. There are also some hoodies with a delicate doodle of a woman’s behind, in pen – Ono’s own work – etched on the front.
However, RESCU’s favourite is the boot with the large golden spike in the front to hold incense.
These aren’t pieces to be worn – they’re collectables, designed to be displayed as art and preserved for museum displays of Ono’s work – but we enjoy it when somebody thinks outside the box.

Melissa has come a long way from producing jelly shoes in the 1990s.
Now it’s a haven for star shoe designers – and the results are always sell-outs. Perhaps their most famous collaboration was with Vivienne Westwood, producing the famous Dragon Shoe that still sells out worldwide, but they’ve also paired up with Jason Wu, Jean Paul Gaultier and other luminaries.
And now they’re going for a real heavy-hitter: Karl Lagerfeld.
It’s just been announced that four styles in the signature bubble gum-scented rubber of Melissa have been designed by Lagerfeld for 2013.
As Melissa have just opened their first flagship store in Sydney, Aussie shoppers will get a good peek at the line when it comes out next year.
Melissa collaborations are known for being irreverent, retro and daring – the solid rubber means that more intricate designs can be attempted for less – so we’re looking forward to seeing what Chanel head Karl has in store.
Wonder if he’ll make tiny ones for Choupette?

Want some Christmas cards that show all your friends and family your fashionable side?
Rescu. has rounded up the chicest ones in the world for your delectation.
Liberty of London is doing an exclusive line of Christian Lacroix Christmas cards, each featuring a unique sketch of a catwalk design. Lacroix no longer shows fashion due to financial problems, but the designs still live on.
Still on English chic, the Victoria & Albert Museum has a delectable range of 12 1920s Christmas fashion illustrations from French gazettes and magazines.
They all feature incredibly chic women in cloches and fur racing over snow – a true taste of the season.
Topshop, who’ve recently landed on our shores, also have a splendid range of surreal Christmas cards, all illustrated by Margot Bowman and Bip Ling, both of whom have so much underground fashion cred they may well explode – bears with backpacks, floating puddings and a deer with stockings.
Want something more Australia in flavour? Famous Australian fashion illustrator David Downton has a range of his gorgeous hand-done illustrations on greeting cards, available in the Fine Art section of Simson Greeting Cards online.
And famous black-and-white fashion photographer Richard Avedon has a box of postcards of his prints available on Amazon.
Or you could always make like the Kardashian family and commission your own photo shoot in dramatic outfits…
