British Style Awards’s Winner: Victoria Beckham
The Spice Girl has come a considerable way since her finger-pointing, short-skirt gyrating on stage in the 90s.
At the British Style Awards this week, Victoria Beckham’s dress line, which has been fervently worn by female celebrities almost since its inception, stared down Tom Ford (yes, you read that correctly), Stella McCartney and Burberry to walk away with the Designer Brand award.
The meteoric rise of Beckham’s dress line has been credited to – what else? – incredible design, with some of her dresses reaching the same height of popularity as Roland Mouret’s now-infamous Galaxy Dress.
Beckham reportedly sobbed as she took the stage – a rare show of emotion for a woman who is renowned for never smiling in photographs. She gave birth to her first daughter only a short while ago.
Other winners included Alexa Chung, who continues to be a fashion icon despite commentators raising occasional questions about what her actual function is, and Sarah Burton for overall Designer Of The Year.
It was also a night of peculiarly horrible fashion, with Stella McCartney donning a very ill-fitting jumpsuit of her own design which was unhemmed, and Kate Moss opting for a black fishnet dress with fringing.
What do you think of Beckham’s win?

Stylish Jewellery Finds For Christmas
Christmas, Hannukah, New Year – any excuse for new jewellery.
Luckily Rescu. is here to help you sort out the beauties from the fakes, and the must-haves from the maybe-next-years.
For vintage: Rescu. has just discovered Helen Badge, a specialist in vintage rings from the Georgian right up to the Art Deco. This is heart-stopping stuff, for the woman who loves history and wants something which is likely not made any more. It’s a popular place for engagement rings, and we can see why.
For cheap and fashion-forward: Galibardy is the UK’s most niche jewellery line and one of its cheapest. Pick up the chain mail necklace (a favourite of Fashion Wrap) or a triceratops on a chain!
For classic: Autore and Tiffany’s are always the best bets for a show-stopper which is sure to raise eyebrows in a subtle way. Autore is, of course, purely for pearls, while the Tiffany’s blue box could contain a piece of coal and fashionistas would still adore it.

The Fashion Week Debacle Might Be At An End
Rescu. has brought you the latest from one of fashion’s most peculiar squabbles – the refusal of Milan Fashion Week to move its date so it won’t overlap with New York or London.
However, a solution seems to be in sight. Hurrah!
Milan has grudgingly agreed to move their week, on a few conditions. Notably, they want Paris Fashion Week to follow Milan in the schedule for perpetuity – which is a sign of hierarchy.
Paris might not begrudge this move, as they may like to be seen as the ‘big’ event at the end of a round of ‘smaller’ ones, but it’s still an upset to the traditional format.
There’s also still a day’s overlap with New York – where once there was an overlap with London!
We think the people who sort this scheduling out might double in careers as air traffic controllers, so complex is this negotiation.
However, we’ll see what New York might have to say about the subject…

The Next Big H&M Collaboration: Marni
H&M certainly feels as if it’s on to a winner.
With the furor over Versace For H&M barely dying down, H&M has announced their newest collaboration, to be released in March 2012- and the culprit this time is Marni.
Marni was founded by Consuelo Castiglioni in 1994, and despite its very recent heritage – it’s been competing against much more established labels – it’s carved out its own niche in the luxury arena.
The biggest Marni signature? Prints – and from the previews, it looks as if the H&M versions will feature much the same colourful patterns as the more high-fashion lines.
However, in a strict change from Versace, Marni isn’t a ‘sexy’ line – it particularly focusses on chunky and avant-garde accessories, distinct billowing lines and other quirky so-chic-you-could-die Italian flourishes.
Now this is one collaboration we’re excited about.
Will you be buying Marni for H&M?
