It’s been a busy week in the fashion world, with Valentino and Karl Lagerfeld announcing new collaborations, along with Vogue’s best dressed issue and more!
Who is best dressed according to Vogue?
Apparently it is Kate Moss! Vogue released their limited edition issue of the Best Dressed women of our time this week, with the magazine fairly distributing their stylish ladies across a number of categories. Although Blake Lively graces the cover, the iconic Kate Moss took out the crown followed closely by many wonderful women of our time. Whilst presidential royalty Michelle Obama was ranked in The Independents, Alexa Chung scored Street Cool, whilst Lady Gaga took out the award for The Visionary.
Karl Lagerfeld to introduce a lower price range collection
Listen up! The king Karl Lagerfeld has announced he will design a capsule collection for Macy’s next fall. The collection will be a one off line, which is a part of Macy’s new venture into designer collaborations. The fashion retail giant will be dealing with a number of other
designers along the
way including the first to start the new venture Kinder Aggugini (who has worked with John Galliano and Versace to say the least!)
There have been changes of late to Karl Lagerfeld’s attitude to the couture scene, after he announced he wouldn’t show his collection at Paris Fashion Week, but would instead opt for a lower price ranged, mass appeal market. It’s evident that the Macy’s collection from Karl will be a true kick start to this new approach, and for us, it’s a welcome one!
Karl Lagerfeld’s successor?
In other Karl news, there has been speculation about his successor. We’re not sure if Karl Lagerfeld will ever retire, but if the dreaded day does come, we know who the designer will be leaning towards to take over from his royal reign. In a recent issue of Numero magazine,
Lagerfeld explained “I have a contract for life so it all depends on who I would like to hand it to. At the moment I’d say Haider Ackermann.” There are no surprises that Ackermann was blissfully happy when he heard the statement, explaining “What can one possibly say to such a phrase?! Such a compliment! Honored I feel, how can one not be?! In all honesty tremendously, immensely touched especially coming from Monsieur Lagerfeld.” Although we’re not expecting Lagerfeld to retire anytime soon, at least now we can sit calmly knowing someone of Ackermann’s talent may be waiting in the wings…
Valentino adds a touch of ruffle to new GAP collaboration
Whilst the buzz has been around the Lanvin for H&M collaboration over the past few weeks, the hit of designer collaborations seems to be quickly expanding. The latest sweet relationship is between Valentino and GAP. Whilst we have come to expect stunning floor length gowns from Valentino, you won’t be catching anything along those lines in this latest venture. Instead, Valentino will be working with GAP’S street cool aesthetic, creating basics, military coats and easy to wear pants. Of course there are signature Valentino touches added into the designs, like feminine ruffles and more slim lined silhouettes. It’s only early stages, but from what we have seen so far, we should all be waiting eagerly for the collection to drop.
