This week in fashion we take a look into Porsche’s brand new flagship store which is about to open in Sydney, plus the latest online shopping portal from Tumblr and more!
Haider Ackermann drops a bombshell on the fashion world
Haider Ackermann is one of the most promising designers of late, yet retailers and fans of the label are bound to be disappointed at the latest news that the designer will not be continuing his line after its first season.
It was only last week that we announced the news of Karl Lagerfeld’s interest in Ackermann taking over should Lagerfeld retire from Chanel, and now it seems a twist of fate has occurred.
However, it appears although Ackermanns first show was applauded by all, it was never meant to be a full launch of a menswear label to begin with. Anne Chapelle, CEO of company BVBA 32, who look after Ackermanns line, announced “Haider wanted to underline the image he made for his women’s line with the man at her side. The men’s collection will be added again at the time Haider wants to and it will not be linked to a season.”
Although there is disappointment for many with the news, Ackermanns women’s line continues to thrive and we can expect big things from this talented designer.
Porsche face the fashion pack with new flagship store
You don’t have to be a car enthusiast to know who Porsche are. And now the leading car company is branching out into the fashion world to reach an entire new audience.
Porsche Design will be opening their very first luxury lifestyle fashion store in Sydney on December 5th. The store aims to incorporate the finer things in life, with it’s must see location at Shop 5, 147 King Street, with Chanel and Louis Vuitton close by. So why would a fashion lover be interested in the new Porsche Design flagship? Simply, the store will feature luxury luggage and eyewear, apparel and accessories (we are talking everything from smoking accessories to mobile phones!) Everything Porsche will be available, and it’s set to be huge!
Tumblr launch new fashion site, Of a Kind
It hasn’t been long since the launch of Google’s e-commerce platform Boutiques, for a new contestant to enter the fashion fight ring. Tumblr have now created and launched their very own shopping site called Of a Kind, which takes a unique approach to shopping online.
The team have described it as ‘an art gallery for emerging designers’ and the products available are highly exclusive limited edition pieces. The process is pretty simple, just like Tumblr is known for in the blogging world. One designer is featured each week and will display items in editions of 5 to 50 (all between $50-$500)
We can expect Tumblr to branch out into more genres in fashion as a following of fans will surely ensue.
