Vivid is kicking off this Friday, May 27th and the offerings are bigger and better than ever. Read below for everything you need to know about Vivid Sydney this year.
This year the display will shine for 23 consecutive nights, illuminating Sydney Harbour and host vibrant music performances and big ideas talks from Friday 27th May to Saturday 18th June

“Vivid Sydney delivers the world’s leading light artists in Vivid Light, cutting-edge musicians and Vivid Music, and creative innovators of Vivid ideas.” Says Sandra Chipchase, Executive Producer Vivid Sydney.
In 2015 the festival attracted a record 1.7 million attendees, and this year’s illuminating installations are set to be bigger and better than ever before.
A few highlights include the expansion into Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and Taronga Zoo, tallying over eighty light installations and projections across Sydney. Superstar storytellers Spike Jonze, Jenji Kohan, Beau Willimon are speakers for Vivid ideas, and Bjork, New Order and Bon Iver for Vivid Music.
As a part of Vivid Ideas, A Night Of Disruptive Ideas is taking place on the 28th of May at the Cellblock Theatre in Darlinghurst for an unforgettable evening of food, wine and ideas around the theme of Open Minds, Disruptive Ideas: How creative genius manifests in different industries.

- Dr Angus Hervey & Tane Hunter: Co-founders of Future Crunch
- Dr Ben Ferris: Founder and Artistic Director of the Sydney Film School

- Ninotschka Titchkosky: Principal and Studio Director at BVN Architecture
- Dr Alex Klat-Smith: Partner at PwC’s The Difference
- Jerry Speiser: Drummer of Men at Work and Buckminster Fuller Curator
The evening will also showcase Laura Jade Hindes art instillation, ‘Brainlight’, with music by Grammy award winning drummer, Jerry Speiser.
