We’re staying close to home in today’s celebrity spotlight special where we’ll be outlining a few of the biggest events and stories in Sydney.
First up we dish the dirt on Lady Gaga’s exclusive show in Town Hall last night.
The Chambord Shine Awards took place yesterday, attracting a seriously glam crowd of Australia’s fashion greats. We find out what the elite got up to over lunch.
Finally, we look at the pre-loved designer items Aussie celebs have donated to the brand new Westfield giveability charity store.
Sydney’s Gone Gaga
Last night 25-year-old Lady Gaga put on a jaw-dropping performance for her biggest fans and media giants.
Sydney’s Town Hall was transformed into the Monster Hall for the exclusive gig where Gaga took the stage in some incredible outfits designed by Donatella Versace including a glittering leotard and blue wig which she emerged on stage in after a very long wait by fans.
The hour-long performance covered many popular tracks including Just Dance, Poker Face, Judas, Bad Romance and many more whilst climbing around the multi-level stage.
Gaga also donned the costume of her alter-ego Yuyi the Mermaid sitting in a wheelchair. The stunt has drawn some criticism from American disability groups who say Gaga should consider those who don’t use a wheelchair for shock value but the stakes are divided with many other groups saying it’s not offensive for them at all.
Chambord Shine Awards
Yesterday Sydney’s elite gathered for lunch at The Tea Room in the QVB to celebrate as An Ode to No One was announced as the winner of the 2011 Chambord Shine Award. The designers won after the VIP guest list, including Peter Morrissey, Gracie Otto, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Carl Kapp and more, voted for their favourite on an iPad.
An Ode to No One received a mentorship with Seduce to have their dress produced and sold with a launch at Seduce’s flagship store in the Ivy. Australia’s top models took to the catwalk during lunch showing off designs from An Ode to No One and the other contestants.
Naturally, Chambord was flowing and the VIP’s enjoyed some seriously delicious treats including Cake Pops, Turkish Delight and Vodka Jellies. Congratulations to An Ode to No One!
