Gail Sorronda has taken a modern day gothic look for her almost all black collection. Splashes of white and gold, and purely feminine detail make this collection highly wearable.
Each year at fashion week, the make up, hair and accessories put into each show is beautiful. Some designers though choose to take it to a whole new level with outrageous hair styles or bright and vibrant eye make up. This year Gail Sorronda chose to create delicately beaded head pieces that were art works in themselves. Whilst her models faces were kept fresh and refined, the beaded circular and fan creations on their heads set off the look for her dramatic collection.
In keeping with Gail’s usual aesthetic, her designs were mostly black and exquisite detail added through skirting and necklines. Her collection was highly feminine, yet also quite dark, with strong nouveau gothic tones. The white collared shirt is bound to be popular this coming season, as we have seen it in the collection of many designers. Gail chose to team her crisp white shirt with an open long vest, a heavy metal waist belt and a tulle ballerina skirt.
The ballerina look featured again in a heavy tulle skirt paired with a feminine satin v neck shirt, with soft gathered detail on the shoulders. Gail chose to include the little black dress in many ways, but kept her designs unique through spotted detail and draping. As we have seen many times this week, sheer was used on the bust of one of her little black dresses, but kept refined through spider lace detail across the chest and arms.
Silhouettes ranged from body con lines to more fuller open skirts, but the real delight of the collection was in the delicate detail. Sheer thigh high stockings were teamed with several outfits, but fitted best with a bouncing collared dress featuring a full skirt, and matching sheer sleeves. Bridal white was seen on a deep v neck cut dress that sat perfectly over bounds of tulle skirt.
The splashes of gold and white brought the nearly all black collection to life, through power shoulders, sheer collared shirts and figure hugging cocktail dresses. A jewel embellished black dress with long sleeves and a stunning silver detail neckline will be a highlight amongst Gail Sorronda followers.
