Cannes Film Festival has opened, Nicole Richie is in Sydney and Joel Madden has had an altercation with the paprazzi, and an obsessed fan has gone the extra mile in an attempt to meet Taylor Swift.

Over the past few days, luxury yachts and super cruisers have been arriving at the famous Croisette promenade in anticipation of the 12-day Cannes Film Festival. Now the festival, in its 66th year, has officially opened with an extravagant ceremony and the premiere of The Great Gatsby.
Cannes is always filled with celebs but the buzz around Baz Luhrmann’s latest film helped deliver a collection of Hollywood heavyweights that was impressive even by Cannes standards.
On the red carpet we saw all The Great Gatsby stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, and Elizabeth Debicki, who looked stunning in an Alex Perry gown.
There were plenty of other big names on the ruby rug too – Julianne Moore, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevigne, Solange Knowles, Frieda Pinto and more.

Audrey Tautou opened the evening with a montage Spielberg’s greatest films before the man himself took the stage to receive a standing ovation before formally opening the competition and introducing the his fellow judges including Ang Lee and Nicole Kidman.
Stars like Justin Timberlake and Kirsten Dunst have already arrived in Cannes ahead of the festival where films like Ryan Gosling-starring Only God Forgives and Sophia Coppola’s The Bling Ring are set to show.
Stay tuned for regular updates!
Nicole Richie has touched down in Sydney this week with her two kids Harlow and Sparrow.
The former Simple Life star (are we the only ones who still miss that show?) is here to see husband Joel Madden who is working on the live show component of The Voice.
Rumour has it she’ll be here for a couple of months to be by Joel’s side and, with all the female fans he has in Australia we have to say we don’t blame her for wanting to be close to him!
The family were spotted having lunch at the gorgeous Catalina in Rose Bay yesterday and, on leaving the restaurant, Madden got in an altercation with a paparazzo.
Photographer Jamie Fawcett (who infamously had an encounter with Nicole Kidman and Mel B) alleged that Madden approached Fawcett and tried to throw his camera on the ground saying, “I’m definitely going to teach you guys you’re not going to get any photos of me.”
Madden is yet to comment.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Richie-Madden clan (though watch yourself if you’ve got a camera on hand) and tweet us @RESCU_ if you spot them!
One Taylor Swift fan has taken the term ‘fanatic’ to a whole new level.
The 22-year-old man from Chicago swam more than 1.5 kilometres in an attempt to reach Swift’s Rhode Island beach home and meet the star. He arrived on shore at around 2am when the police spotted him approximately one mile from Swift’s home.
After asking him what he was doing in the water, the man allegedly told police he had just completed a swim and intended to meet Taylor. He was promptly hauled to a nearby police station where he was booked for trespassing and is still in custody.
And in less creepy Taylor Swift news, it has just been announced that Guy Sebastian will open for the star during her stadium tour of Australia. He said, “I’m stoked to play with someone who is so popular and is going to fill massive stadiums because she has such a loyal fanbase.”
