Get the ‘dark side of a fairy-tale’ hair from Collette Dinnigan’s Paris show and make a statement this winter like the jewel-encrusted brows seen at Chanel Ready-to-Wear A/W 2012-13.
“I wanted to expose the darker side to the fairy tale; portraying the essence of the modern day woman in contrasting textures of French lace, sequins and feathers.” Collette Dinngian said of her A/W 2012/13 collection that debuted at Paris Fashion Week.
Rescu. loves the intricate hair-do, reminiscent of a modern, adult Alice in Wonderland with a mysterious edge. Paired with the feathers on the clothing there is an air of Gatsby, with a sophisticated attitude to match. Collette’s collections combined pretty, chic and punk accentuated by a unique up-do to suit whatever mood you’re in!
Collette said of the hair look,”Tomohiro ‘s hair for Redken was amazing, he created this edgy take on a chic up do which is a lot harder to construct than it looks! It creates a porcupine spike feel to the classic bow”

At the highly anticipated Chanel Ready-to-Wear show in Paris, the brand’s signature tweed jackets received a modern makeover while models including Miranda Kerr, Stella Tennant, Lindsey Wixson, Lily Donaldson and Cara Delevingne received the alien treatment as the slick pony-tail accentuated their eyebrow decor.
Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, Peter Philips fills us in on the inspiration behind the brows.
“The inspiration for the makeup look came from a few key words and a sketch that Karl Lagerfeld provided: minerals, shading and eyebrows were the key words and the sketch showed a face with stone-lined eyebrows. So the focus is on the eyebrows, which led me to interpret Karl’s drawing and the “mineral” emphasis by creating straight, graphic eyebrows.
I worked with the Maison Lesage to create sets of embroidered eyebrows. Each eyebrow consists of an anthracite gray sequins and pearl base, embroidered with several sorts and shades of mineral stones and crystals”
As for the makeup Philips went easy on the complexion for dewy looking and matte finished skin to let the texture and embellishments of the clothes do the talking.
Rescu. loves Chanel Mat Lumière foundation and well as Ombre Contraste in ‘Notorious’ which Philips used to achieve the shading and sculpting of the face. The lavender/taupe powder was used on the eyelids and the side of the face to contour. Ombre was created especially for the show!
The rest of the face was left nude – for obvious reasons.
Rescu. loves the new shade of Le Vernis called ‘Frenzy’ which matches the compact powder.
