Manning Cartell was hair heaven, and naturally we’re all left lusting after similar styles. Luckily, we have ghd to tell us how we can achieve the sleek, shiny and sexy hair seen at the show.
Alan White, a ghd Hair Director said “The hair for Manning Cartell was inspired by traditional Spanish Dancers with heavy center parts, hair slicked low across the forehead and swept back into a deep set pony. Adding hair to the pony and using a ghd Styler to straighten the tail gave the whole look an Andalusian edge. Manning Cartell’s designs for this season evoke the feelings of romance and passion derived from visions of a Spanish senorita beneath the heat of the afternoon sun. The soft flowing fabrics create a seductive and mysterious silhouette on the body.

Designer Vanessa Manning said, “Our Spring Summer 10/11 collection ‘compulsive sketcher’ is inspired by Aubrey Beardsley’s amazing ink drawings, beautiful designs & patterns within a cultural matrix of Spanish tales.” “We wanted a modern horse tail pony for the hair, blunt cut with a sharp centre part. Then for a touch of drama, we dressed it with a sculptural resin accessory.”

HOW TO RECREATE THE LOOK:
1. Prep hair with ghd Miracle Mist then ghd Maximise Mousse, focusing on good distribution of the product from roots through to ends.
2. Blow dry with a boar bristle round brush, giving lots of root lift and swell while also smoothing the hair. The texture and volume of the hair is important for the finished look. Blow drying the product in will prevent slipping and give a beautiful finish, which will be full but not frizzy.
3. Centre part the hair. Smooth and add shine using ghd Obedience Cream to the top layer of the hair but only to where the hair will form into the ponytail. Then brush the hair into a clean, polished, low pony, about half an inch above the nape, before securing with a bungee.
4. Comb the hair into place using a cocktail of ghd Texture Lotion and ghd Polishing Serum. Sweep the hair from the part line down to the top of the ear, slightly over the forehead and temple so that the recessions and hairline are not visible and hair is tucked neatly behind both ears. Be careful not to pull out too much from the pony when doing this
5. Wrap a small section of hair around the base securing as you go along. Smooth the pony with the ghd Styler. The ponytail itself will have a dry texture and be very full.
6. Secure ornament into base of pony. Tease volume into the ponytail then smooth over the surface
7. Finish the top section with ghd Reflection Spray, and the ponytail with ghd Ultimate Hairspray.
