Inspired by the fourth state of consciousness between waking, dreaming and sleeping, the Ginger & Smart collection at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week evoked the images we see when we close our eyes.
Models floated down the runway in a dream like misc-en-scene of ruffle dresses, fluid trousers, and fuller skirts.
The cool colour palette of nude, lilac and mint created an ethereal elegance. Ghd and MAC Cosmetics exaggerated the earthy, natural beauty with tousled locks and minimal makeup in neutrals and golds.
As the colour palette moved into tones of olive, smoke and ink blue, the collection’s whimsical romance gained an edge. Digi-print on dresses, pants, bras and bodysuits, dramatised the kaleidoscope of colours that animates our dreams.
Sleeveless blazers and slouched pants (cropped and full-length) are the seasonal mini trend. Casually chic with sandals or dressed up with heels, the look seamlessly transforms from day into night.
The clothes came to life in fabrics that were knotted, perforated, frayed, and ruched, transcending our dreams with texture and layered silhouettes.
To accessorise this whimsical fantasy: modern shoes with metal heels, soft bags, silk wrist scarves and knotted belts in parchment leather.
Looks will soon be sported on the likes of Lara Binge, Kate Waterhouse, Kirstie Clements (editor-in-chief Vogue Australia), Jackie Frank (Editor of Marie Claire), model Alyssa Sutherland, and fashion blogger Susie Bubble, who studded the front row.
