If you want to rock the hottest look on international runways, then you have to try sleek waves. We can’t get enough of the high shine, slicked-back styles that models have been flaunting.
To learn how to get sleek waves at home, try these tips and tricks from Schwarzkopf National Technical Educator Grant Withnell. This tutorial will help you create the look below, photographed by the incredible Karl Lagerfeld in his Paris studio.
How to Get Sleek Waves:
Step One: Apply a volumising mousse to towel-dried hair, focusing on the roots. Blow dry the hair away from the face, using a large round brush to create extra volume.
Rescu. Recommends: John Frieda Luxurious Volume Volume Building Mousse ($15.99). We road tested this mousse and were wowed by the incredible bounce it gave our curls. Available at Priceline, Woolworths, Coles, Target, Chemist Warehouse and selected Pharmacies nationally.
Step Two: Section the hair into small parts to curl with a large barrelled iron. Work your way backwards away from the face. Do not release the curl, instead pull out the wand and pin the rolled up curl in place.
Step Three: Repeat process over the entire head until all the hair is pinned. Spray with hairspray and allow time to let the hair cool down.
Rescu. Recommends: TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe Casual Flexible Hold Hairspray ($15.99). Many hair sprays make hair feel stiff as a board, but this gorgeous, flexible product has all the hold, without the stiffness. Available at Woolworths, Coles, Priceline and Big W.
Step Four: Unpin the entire head and run your fingers through to create separation.
Step Five: Use a large paddle brush and push hair back into place. Finish off with hairspray again and a touch of oil mist to create shine and softness.
Rescu. Recommends: Extra Care Dry Oil Mist ($8.99). We love how lightweight this spray is, smoothing fly aways without weighing down your hair. Plus, it’s enriched with nourishing argan oil. Available at selected salons and stores nationally.
