Heidi Klum believes perfume helps to complete an outfit. The supermodel believes it’s important for women to wear a good fragrance as it helps them to feel more confident and sexy. Klum says: “For me, perfume is something to complete the look. It’s almost kind of like great underwear. No one can really see it but it makes you feel sassier and sexier.” Klum recently launched her latest scent, Shine, and says it was difficult to come up with a unique fragrance. She told People.com: “It’s complicated. I really tried to look for something that didn’t exist, which is hard. I think 23 or 26 perfumes come out every year and it’s hard to come up with something you haven’t smelled before. Shine is a little more modern, powdery, but spicy. It’s a great marriage of sweet and spicy.” The fragrance includes pink peppercorn, sunflower, lily of the valley, pear, mandarin orange and vanilla. The mother-of-four has always valued the importance of smelling good has always been important to and likes to cover herself in perfume. Klum says: “I just kind of spray it everywhere. And then I spray everyone else, too. When we were in the elevator with security today, I sprayed it on all the guys. Some of them I’ve known for years, but there was another guy I didn’t know.”
Burlesque dancer and model, Dita Von Teese, loves wearing red lipstick every day. The glamorous beauty – renowned for her 1940s styling – likes to spend time on her outfit, but even when she is in a rush she believes rouged lips help create a high-impact look. Teese says: “One of the things that I do to have a glamorous day is take a bit of time to put on make-up and chose clothes that I like to wear – it doesn’t mean being uncomfortable, I don’t wear corsets or stockings every day but a little bit of red lipstick goes a long way.” To get the best effect, Teese – who was previously married to rocker Marilyn Manson – believes lighting is pivotal, as is practicing application, because even she makes make-up mistakes if she hasn’t applied it for some time. Teese added to Stylist.co.uk: “Have a good vanity place to do your makeup and a place with good lighting – natural light is the best. Also, always have enough extra time so you’re not rushing to get ready. The more often you do it the better – practice makes perfect. If I don’t do my eyeliner for a week or so I’m not so good at it. Practice is everything when it comes to beauty. I don’t always have a perfect hair day either but it helps to have a back-up plan for when things go wrong, like wearing a hat or learning how to do a French twist.”
