It’s Saint Valentine’s Day here in Australia and we’re looking at match.com’s study on how hot Hollywood cougar couples have started a trend in our local dating scene. We’re also checking out how sweetheart David Beckham will be spending V-Day with his pregnant wife Victoria Beckham and what newly engaged Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo will celebrate the day of love…
Match.com Say Cougar Couples Are the New Black
Demi Moore’s relationship with Ashton Kutcher has lasted a lot longer than anyone expected and we now hold them as one of the few celebrity couples we believe have staying power despite, or perhaps because of, a fifteen year age gap. Last year, the couple got through cheating and break-up rumours and came out on top, kicking this year off with a family trip to Brazil late January.
Closer to home, our very own cougar couple have recently called it quits. Megan Gale, 35, and Andy Lee, 29, announced their split late last year in a light-hearted statement that joked, “Rumours that Megan was seen kissing Liz Hurley in a glass elevator are false and for those concerned, don’t worry as Andy managed to secure Hamish in the split.” The two remain good 
friends proving that cougar town might be the way to go.
Match.com has compared what singles were seeking in 2010 with what they want now and it has been revealed that the number of men under 25 looking for an older woman has increased by 25 percent! Unfortunately the fairer sex does not match this desire; the number of women looking for a younger man is on a steady decline.
David Beckham’s Plans for His Long-time Valentine
Soccer superstar David Beckham and his wife of eleven years Victoria Beckham will be taking a four day break from his London life and flying to New York where the pregnant former Spice Girl is launching her latest fashion line.
Sources have alleged that he has booked a candlelit restaurant in Manhatten and is planning on taking her to the landmark that inspired their first son’s name, the Brooklyn Bridge. Despite numerous problems over the years, these two sweethearts are clearly very much in love and proof that love can prevail anything.
Victoria recently told USA Today that despite the rumours, she doesn’t know the sex of her baby! After three sons, we hope the fashionista has a baby girl to dress up but the star says the family will be thrilled either way and that they just feel blessed to be adding on to their adorable family.
Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey’s V-Day
Lachey, 36, proposed to his girlfriend of five years, Minnillo, 30, late last year and so the newly engaged pair will be having a fairly low-key Valentine’s Day this year.
They plan on having a romantic dinner and cocktails together before heading home to watch Minnillo guest star in Hawaii Five-O. Too cute!
