The eyes might be the starting point for any effective anti-ageing strategy, but they’re often the most forgotten. Rescu. spoke to skin care expert Belinda Besant from la prairie for her top tips on how to prevent ageing around the eyes.
‘This is a much thinner area, around the eye,’ says Belinda Besant. ‘So darker circles show more easily, and you have a loss of elasticity around the eyes, and that’s simply because the eye area is much thinner to begin with.’
‘It’s also an area of high movement so we’re blinking so many times during the day, rubbing our eyes, over computers, so it’s an area of stress.’
So what’s the key to taking care of this super sensitive area? Hydration and a considered skin care regime that gives precedent to eye area.
‘You need to keep using a good eye routine,’ says Belinda Besant. ‘Because at the very least you want to maintain the results of the treatment that you’re having. Your eye area needs great hydration, and we want to stimulate collagen, and we want to work with what nature gave us that’s within the skin.’
