The smokey eye is the most requested look because it’s timeless. It’s the quickest way to instantly dress up eyes and is a great look for the holiday season. It may look complicated, but with the right products and tools, it’s easy and quick to create. It can be as simple as smudgy black liner, or as dramatic as a few layers of medium to dark shadows and double-lined eyes.

This season, have some fun and try a rich, yet diffused smokey eye infused with gorgeous flecks of multidimensional shimmer, which you can create using our new Sterling Nights Collection. To create this look, sweep the Ivory Eye Shadow from the Sterling Nights Eye Palette all over lid. Follow with a layer of the Smoke Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow on the lower lid, from the lashes to the crease. Make eyes look more intense by double lining the upper lid. Begin by lining the top lash line with Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Pitch Black. Next, use the Smokey Eye Liner Brush or a dry eyeliner brush to sweep Caviar Eye Shadow along the top half of your gel liner application. The result is a diffused liner look that is darkest at the lash line and softens as you go up the eyelid. This technique is also a great way to perfect your gel eyeliner application by helping to smooth out any skips or bumps in your liner.
For added definition, you can line the lower lash line with the Caviar Eye Shadow, using the same technique going from outer to inner corner. The lower line should be very thin and close to the lash line. Remember to always connect the upper and lower lines at the outer corner of your eye. Top off eyes by sweeping a shimmering eye shadow on the lower lid to the crease. Don’t forget about the lashes – smokey eyes are about all about drama. Using an eyelash curler, gently place lashes between curler and pad and apply light pressure. Finish by coating lashes with with three coats of volumizing mascara to give the lashes thickness and volume. Before lashes dry, you can gently press them up with your fingers to curl them and open your eyes up even more. For slightly more definition, apply mascara to the lower lashes but use a much lighter touch and only one coat.
