Are your workouts becoming boring and repetitive? Need a boost for Summer? Why not check out my Top 5 Fitness Apps for iPhone!
1. FitnessBuilder:
– $10.49
– FitnessBuilder contains the latest exercise images and a video library.
– Aimed at beginners, seasoned gym bunnies and even Personal Trainers/Fitness Professionals
– The workout builder allows you to construct your own workouts. Drag and drop in kettlebell workouts, TRX, dumbbells or swissball exercises.
– You can schedule workouts to your calendar, a handy feature in my opinion. This enables you to turn up to the gym and let your Fitnessbuilder app go to work. Many of you struggle to think of different, challenging workouts each time you train so this app is perfect to stop that monotony.
– FitnessBuilder contains timers, weight tracker, BMR/BMI stats and the ability to ask a fitness question to an Exercise Physiologist.
– Share on Facebook and Twitter when your workout is complete.
– Great if you want to tighten up and change the shape of your wobbly bits!
2. MyFitnessPal:
– Free
– Best food & calorie tracking app.
– Calorie tracking is essential if you want to succeed with your weight loss goals. MyFitnessPal has developed this clever app so you are never left guessing the calorie content of your favourite, most consumed foods.
– You can set your daily-required calorie goal, record all your food and also any exercise you complete.
– Receive free access to the myfitnesspal.com website which allows you to record your progress anywhere, anytime and allows you to sync the information with your computer or iPhone and vice versa.
– Handy for those that need to monitor their food intake to achieve fat loss/weight loss.
3. RunKeeper:
– Free
– It uses GPS technology found in your iPhone to track where you are, distance completed, pace, calories burned and also has the ability to brag to your friends about how much of an athlete you are. Share via Facebook or Twitter. Also, the main RunKeeper site will track all your runs, a great tool so you can monitor progress.
– Another handy function is RunKeeper’s inbuilt insight into your ear; find out where you are, if you’re dropping behind the pace you set – a little bit like a PT running right alongside you!
– The best part is your can still listen to your iTunes whilst running and go back and forth to this app.
4. Tabata timer:
– Free
– My most used app. Great for performing high intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts. I use this with all my clients as part of their fitness program. The app is incredibly basic. It sets out your time with each set (Tabata protocol states that you perform 8 sets of high intensity exercise for 20 secs work followed immediately by 10 secs rest) it’s a great way for ramping up your workouts and achieving a massive calorie burn.
– This app will really boost your fat loss results and have you fit in no time. The simplicity of this app allows you to focus on your exercises. Choose 5 of your most challenging exercises e.g. jump squats, push ups, weighted jump lunges, squat & press and burpees; set the timer and you’ve got a killer workout that will only take you 20 minutes.
– You need this app if you want to see results fast and add some power into those workouts.
5.Yoga Trainer Pro
– $1.99
– Yoga trainer PRO offers over 70+ poses, catering from beginners to advanced. It offers pre made sequences or you can construct your own, allowing you to focus on certain weaknesses.
– All poses have photos and step-by-step instructions on how to perform the poses.
– Whilst attending a yoga class would be ideal, class schedules don’t always suit everybody so this is a perfect compromise.
– My favourite thing about this app is its portability. It means I can practice my yoga moves outside when it’s a beautiful day or indoors if it’s rainy and windy.
– Bendy Yogis need this app as well as poor-postured office workers.
Stay awesome until next time,
Natalie Carter. x
