Happy that Giorgio Armani had given us his approval to have some fun, we made our way to Moschino for the Cheap and Chic collection. Our spirits continued to be lifted as the message was clear. It is time for peace, love and a fresh start. And with a ‘spring in our step’, we should also start seeing the world through rose tinted, daisy shaped sunglasses. Just like the ones the models were wearing.
Entering the Garden of Eden, with the poster girl Eve – her name even printed on tops as a reminder – with the word ‘amore’ strung from necklaces. There were also true-to-size fruity bananas and chillies on chains around the necks of the models.
The warm and fuzzy feelings of ‘peace’ and ‘love’ were right there in black and white. As well as red, blues, yellows, oranges and pinks.
This Moschino collection was created for girly girls, who once dreamed that when they grew up they could dress like the Barbie dolls they played with in their youth.
There were ruffled tops, candy stripes, ra-ra skirts, pleats, off-the-shoulder chiffon, sweetheart necklines, short coat dresses, strapless mini dresses, playsuits, decorative fabric flowers and playful yet sophisticated jackets and shorts that were all finished off with flat shoes – rather than restrictive and feet binding stilettos – again making ‘fun’ all the more practical and comfortable. With such short hemlines, the legs already looked endless and did not need any further elongation with high heels.
Even the models’ make-up was enviable. Think pretty as a peach; with soft flushed cheeks, pink lips, and loosely pulled back side ponytails.
