Sydney’s Circular Quay was taken over by crowds of women in stilettos for an event like no other. The Venus Embrace Closest Stiletto Relay captured the hearts of women all over Australia with the winners, the Pinkettes from Canberra, Brittney McGlone and her team Jessica Penney, Laura Juliff and Casey Hodges being just a few who travelled for the event.
Each team of four was required to wear stilettos with a minimum heel height of 3 inches and, of course, have silky smooth legs. The winners completed the race in just one minute and four seconds, a world record. Official event scrutineer Erin McNaught was trackside, making sure all participants complied with the entry requirements. She said, “It was fantastic to see Aussie women strap on their stilettos and get their girlfriends together to put their stiletto skills to use in a way that has never been witnessed before. It would seem that years of running around town in kill heels had them well and truly prepared.”
This amazing event was not just about stilettos and world records, Venus Embrace contributed over $20,000 to fund essential breast cancer research into prevention and cure. The NBCF had their own team in the race made up of TV Presenters and NBCF Ambassadors Sophie Falkiner and Lyndsey Rodrigues as well as NBCF’s CEO Sue Murray and breast cancer survivor Katherine Sroka (pictured with Erin McNaught)
