Jason Wu has just been announced as the new head of Hugo Boss – and the fashion world is predicting a disaster. Why? Read on to find out…
Jason Wu Is New Head Of Hugo Boss Womenswear
Ever lusted after a Jason Wu dress?
Maybe Michelle Obama’s inauguration gowns (both times), or the Met Ball glam worn by Diane Kruger, or one of the cocktail creations stomped down the red carpet by Emma Stone and the rest of young Hollywood?
Join the club – RESCU’s been a Wu fan since Michelle danced to ‘At Last’ in his gorgeous cream gown at the first Obama victory gala, and now he’s headed to the top.
He’s just been announced as the new head designer of Hugo Boss. Think Boss is all about fancy suits for men? Think again.
The CEO said that this was their way of showing that they’re committed to the ‘female side’ of the brand, just as much as the menswear.
Wu’s been made head of their womenswear department, and is going to debut the new line in February 2014 at New York Fashion Week.
“I plan to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand’s authority in menswear,” Wu said.
There are a few problems. One, Wu’s very into the feminine and the floral, while Hugo Boss is traditionally tailoring oriented. Two, Wu has always been a New York based designer, and now he’ll have to up sticks to Germany.
It could be brilliant – or it could all end in disaster.

Custom Valentino, A Strap Malfunction And Capes: The Swedish Royal Wedding
When the European royals get married, you know the fashion is going to be spectacular.
And Princess Madeleine of Sweden’s marriage this week – to her financier boyfriend – was no exception.
The dress was custom-made Valentino, with cap sleeves and four metres of train – dwarfed by a six-metre veil. Madeleine is now in a select company including Anne Hathaway for whom Valentino has made special wedding dresses, even though he was supposed to retire in 2008.
The one problem? The sleeves were a bit loose – and one slipped off during the photos. Quelle horreur!
The two major fashion faux pas among the guests were actually colour-based. Duran Duran’s John Taylor was there (don’t ask us why), and his wife Gela dressed in couture all black. Definite no-no at any really fancy wedding.
And Princess Marie Chantal of Greece, a notorious fashion plate, drew criticism for wearing her biggest tiara and a white gown – too ‘bridal’.
A lot of the tabloids also noticed that Princess Charlene of Monaco – the one who’s best friends with Armani and apparently tried to flee Monaco before her wedding – attended on her own, without jewellery, in dull brown and looking completely miserable.
However, Rescu. loved what Aussie Princess Mary of Denmark wore – rich red lace with a brilliant sheer red capelet. Now that’s what wedding style is all about.
What did you think of the fashions?

Karl Lagerfeld Slams Audrey Tautou As Coco Chanel
Who can keep track of what Karl Lagerfeld thinks of anything? A new book is coming out, ‘The World According To Karl’, collecting his most famous thoughts and reversals of opinion on everything under the sun.
Now he’s lashed out at his latest target: Audrey Tautou, who played Coco Chanel in the 2009 film Coco Avant Chanel.
Apparently he now believes she did it all wrong – and that’s not at all to do with the fact that he’s just directed Keira Knightley as Chanel himself.
“Oh, the movie was bad. [Tautou] played it like women’s lib, like Simone de Beauvoir 30 years before… No, no, no, no. Chanel was a different kind of woman. Keira had it. She is a young woman in love, not a spinster.”
This is all the more remarkable because when the movie came out, Tautou was the face of Chanel No 5, one of the brand’s biggest advertising campaigns.
Now, however, he has a new muse, and Tautou is on the sidelines.
