This collection was true to the DVF philosophies of female empowerment, seduction and ease, but rather than the signature DVF wrap dress, the clothes that filled the runway were very hippy hippy chic.
In her homage to Diana Vreeland who “taught us we could be goddesses and rock stars”, DVF, a woman who designs for women, sent models down the catwalk in sexy maxi dresses, floppy hats, floral shaped leather headbands, kaftans and RESCU’s favourite outfit; a three piece white flared suit.
But whilst we channelled the thought of bohemian babe Talitha Getty lounging on a super yacht, and Bianca marrying Mick Jagger, DVF recalled being at those actual events when dreaming up this collection.
Ethereal jet-setter Uma Thurman may have been planning her honeymoon wardrobe as she and fiancé Arki Busson watched from the front row, whilst a few seats across Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria Parker had plenty of ensembles to choose from for their next summer in St Tropez.
The one thing that was clear was that this collection was all about optimism, spring, youth and excitement; from the look on the front row faces to the clothes sashaying down the runway. It’s what the world needs now.
