Now that this frosty fashion season is in full swing I thought we could take a look at some winter wonderful trends and how to stay on the pulse but not freeze your funds!

Lace
Spidery, ornate and textured are key words for this favourite. Layering lace can be tricky, so opt for all-in-one looks and keep it simple. Lover has swoon-worthy pieces in long sleeve tops and dresses- perfect for cocktails or dressing up for day. Add a chic knit or an old-time favourite coat in cashmere or wool from your wardrobe and you’re ready to face the chill. Like this one by Lover.
Coats
Easily the most obvious winter staple but finding the right fit and fabric can be tricky. One thing is for sure- these A/W designers have turned up the heat with two sure fire stars- the pea coat and the bomber jacket. Moving away from military can be harder than doing three rounds with a drill sergeant but move on from the army to the navy and try out a pea coat. It’s shorter; a little more subdued than the trench and can lengthen shorter frames. I love the two-tone twist that Minty Meets Munt has done with their Brooklyn Coat. It is slightly longer than tradition dictates but means you can make it work- even at work!
Or, if you want a complete coat overhaul, go out on a limb and get a bomber jacket. No longer reserved for fighter pilots or fifties boppers this short style is an effortless way to add punch to an outfit. Try it with fitted jeans and a silky soft knit to maximise your height. Sass & bide’s new spin option is safe, but Antipodium’s Clandestiny Jacket hits all the high notes; cropped, metallic and leather- three strikes and you’re out!!!
Boots
Give the boot to tradition and saddle up with some ankle boots. There are mind boggling arrays of choices for winter but a Cuban heeled; patterned boot is the way to put your best foot forward. Lucky for you your imagination and taste are the only limit here! I’m going to stretch the limit and opt for Gorman’s Dime boot with metallic crocodile- it won’t get snapped up by everyone but worn with a cropped trouser, world weary worn tee and textured cardigan you are off to a great start. Keeping your summer maxi dresses and adding these boots and a great boyfriend style denim jacket can also add some much needed mileage- think Stevie Nicks meets Nicole Ritchie and you’re almost there. Of course for those not as fashionably fearless there are a plethora of more subtle styles but I say go all out!!!
I could go on for days about winter warming delights but ultimately it’s Ladies Choice! So rug up, race out and with sale time deliciously upon us it’s time to take these trends and run with them! Go forth and accessorize!!!
Josh.
