Today in our Celebrity Spotlight we check out the Juno Awards, Canada’s answer to the Grammy’s. Plus, we’ve got all the details on why Beyonce has decided to ditch Dad as her manager and which iconic figure Amy Adam’s is set to play.
Shock Grammy Winners Arcade Fire Take it Out Again
Everyone (especially Justin Bieber fans) was shocked when Arcade Fire took home the Best Album Award at the Grammy’s this year but it seems they’ve done it again, winning no less than four huge awards at the recently held Juno Awards in Canada. The group, who are Canadian themselves, were hugely celebrated on the night, taking home Best Album, Best Alternative Album, Best Group and Best Songwriting.
Justin Bieber was awarded with both the Fan Choice Award and the Best Pop Album. The mini super star wasn’t present on the night as he is off on a world tour, but he sent his fans a pre-recorded message.
It seems Bieber and our favourite minx, Katy Perry, have a couple of things in common! Both stars are currently touring and both seemed to have impressed the Canadians. Katy beat Lady Antebellum, Eminem, Kesha and Taylor Swift to the Best International Album award!
Beyonce No Longer Doing Business With Dad
Mathew Knowles, manager and father of Beyonce Knowles, is retiring from the family business and will no longer serve as the superstar’s manager.
Despite reports of troubled waters, both parties insist that there is no animosity behind the separation. The 29-year-old singer said of her father, “I am grateful for everything he has taught me. I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own business. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps.” Going on to say, “he is my father for life and I love my dad dearly.”
Mathew has been a part of his daughter’s career since the late 90’s when the star was a part of Destiny’s Child. In a separate statement, he said, “Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success.”
There’s no word yet on who will be Beyonce’s new manager yet but we’ll have our ears to the ground!
