Kanye West Wrote ‘I Am A God’ To Protest Fashion Week Celeb Controls
Remember Kanye West’s fashion designer career? He does – but these days he’s more angry about his treatment as a celebrity guest in the front row.
Fashion designers all over the world invite A-listers to come see and be seen beside the catwalk – but often there’s a catch.
And West has decided he’s tired of it.
He told W Magazine that he wrote a new track, ‘I Am A God’, in the studio with Daft Punk after a designer (whom he doesn’t name) tried to lure him to the front row of their show – and then informed him that if he accepted, he wouldn’t be allowed to go to any others.
These ‘exclusivity agreements’ are often behind the boldface names appearing at just one show in an entire week. They aren’t sick, or ‘such great friends’ with the designer that they only go to his show – they’ve signed an agreement to restrict themselves.
You know a starlet hasn’t quite made it yet when she’s seen at every show – nobody wants to pay her to save her star power just for them.
West decided that was unfair – because he’s a god, apparently.
“It’s like, Yo! Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go…. You can’t say that you love music and then say that Kanye West can’t come to your show! To even think they could tell me where I could and couldn’t go is just ludicrous.
In other Kanye fashion news, gossip has leaked out this week that he might be switching to menswear for his next collection. His two womenswear shows were widely (and sometimes unfairly) panned, and he’s apparently going to make his mens’ collection very simple – just hoodies, sneakers and jeans.

Latest Mulberry Ad Campaign Had ‘Problems With Poo’
The results are stunning, but the latest Mulberry campaign had some difficulties with its stars.
The featured model, Cara Delevingne, revealed to the press that her fellow models, multiple trained owls, caused havoc with their toilet habits.
Apparently the owls pooped everywhere, including on the thousand-dollar clothes being modelled and all over the set. Delevingne thought it was funny, but we can imagine the set assistants who had to clean the clothes were less amused.
Animals in ad campaigns and fashion shoots are in this year – Kate Upton starred in an editorial in April for Harper’s Bazaar where she handled baby tigers, tiny gibbons and numerous other wild animals.
The shoot, which was called ‘Animal Nursery’ (and coincidentally styled by Carine Roitfeld, who’s famous for using animals in fashion shoots and once posed with a leopard herself), was criticised by PETA. Why? For glamourising the separation of baby animals from their parents for use in commercial photography.
The Mulberry ads are certainly beautiful, but were they worth it for the owls – and for whoever handled the clean-up?

Emma Watson revealed this week that she only owns eight pairs of shoes. Inspirational stuff.
Of course, Watson doesn’t need to own shoes for premieres – she’s lent them by every fashion designer under the planet – but if you are going to go back to the bare essentials of footwear, what should you choose?
Here’s the Rescu. guide to the necessary eight pairs of shoes in any woman’s life.
1. The chic boot
Unless you live in the steaming tropics, a gorgeous boot is a necessary lynchpin of any shoe wardrobe. Buttery brown or black leather is always the way forward, complete with excellent stitching and fashionable details.
A little bit of a heel is always necessary, so it can be dressed up if necessary. Keep things long and lean with Maison Martin Margiela‘s knee-high brown leather boots, or opt for slouchier biker chic with Isabel Marant booties (pictured). And if you’re feeling gothic, go for a black Tony Bianco over-the-knee suede beauty.
2. The workwear pump
Want to look in control at the office? A sleek, comfortable and utterly professional pump is the way forward. Extra points if you manage to wear it all day without kicking it off secretly under the desk.
1940s-detailed leather ones with ankle straps like Jason Wu’s current collection are great for workwear, or there’s the classic Jimmy Choo Anouk (pictured), one of the mainstays of lady CEO’s wardrobes ever since the glass ceiling came down. And the chunkier heels on Gucci‘s buckled suede pumps are an awesome way to give height without killing your arches.
3. The classic sneaker
Sneakers used to be the scruffy little sister of all your other sleeker shoes – no more. There are more designer sneakers on the market than there ever were before, so step away from the safe, comfortable Converse and invest in some serious high-fashion skate shoes.
We love Miu Miu‘s glitter high-tops (pictured), and Lanvin has their own crystal-embellished leather ones to brighten any outfit. And if you want to stick with canvas, go with Vans‘ Authentic range – their Black Rose sneakers are floral and on-trend.
4. The ballet flat
Flats are where you can go wild – brogues, slippers, the classic ballet cut, whatever you like in whatever colour. The Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats (pictured) are a classic that will never go wrong.
If you want something softer, there’s Alexander McQueen suede slippers, or Chloe‘s delectable leather ballet flats with scalloped edges. And our new favourite, Clarks, is doing tasselled suede-patent red dancing shoes.
5. The evening heel
Where do we start? Whether it’s a Louboutin classic (pictured) or a five-inch heel from Saint Laurent, evening heels are the big guns. High, spiky, designed to go with every LBD ever invented – you haven’t graduated to womanhood till you’ve got one of these.
Our current faves are Alexander McQueen‘s gold-capped black pumps -that little bit of shine at the toe makes all the difference. Plus there’s Giuseppe Zanotti‘s insanely strappy evening shoes, or Nicholas Kirkwood, king of the red carpet. Make sure they’re good for dancing.
6. The beach sandal
Thongs are all well and good, but if you want to go from beach to boardwalk and then onto cocktails, you need something a bit more special. Grecian sandals continue to be an awesome option – strappy without being overly fussy.
Saint Laurent‘s classic beach sandals (pictured), which would have been favoured by the likes of Audrey Hepburn, are for the conservative ones, but if you want to branch out into something else, go for Charlotte Olympia glittery sandal flats, Jimmy Choo laser-cut suede or a flatform from Michael Kors.
7. The all-weather favourite
Want to go to a music festival? You need wellies. There’s not much fashion to be done here, but a good classic like a Hunter boot (pictured) is all you need to make an impression. It might look frumpy, but trust us, your feet will thank you.
8. The ridiculous party shoe
Every woman deserves at least one completely ridiculous pair of shoes. Whether it’s Valentino studs, Charlotte Olympia cats, Nicholas Kirkwood space-age (pictured) or completely ridiculous Louboutin confections, it’s the shoes to end all shoes. We love Irregular Choice‘s show-stopping colourful designs, but one thing’s necessary: no plainness allowed.
