Almost Aussie (well she is from our neighbouring New Zealand) Karen Walker was inspired by watching re-runs of ‘The Prisoner’, a late sixties British TV series that was set in a mysterious seaside village, for this collection.
Walker loved the idea that a “seaside holiday resort is actually a prison for retired spies” and dreamed up a collection that saw her ‘women of international mystery’ sashay down the catwalk in enigmatic bird-print dresses, playful navy and white nautical themed smocked tops and singlet dresses, all accentuated with flashes of vibrant reds and yellows, stripped ra-ra skirts, blazers, navy polka-dotted slip dresses, created from crisp cottons, sheer chiffons and delicate silks.
