Kate Moss Topshop Collection Copies Her Own Famous Looks
With Kate Moss’s Topshop collection launching this week – and available in Australian Topshop stores – we were curious. What inspired the range of chic fashion?
It turns out Kate didn’t look very far for her inspiration – many of the looks are cloned straight from her famous, designer-heavy closet.
A yellow dress, for instance, is a direct copy of a vintage chiffon one-shouldered piece Kate once wore to a party for AnOther Magazine (above left), from Beverly Hills vintage boutique Lily et Cie. The dress design is such a favourite with her that she also replicated it for her previous Topshop collection.
Some of her Glastonbury-chic pieces, including jewelled boho jackets and shorts, are almost identical, while a vintage caftan she wore in 2012 has been replicated exactly, right down to the Aztec embroidery.
We love – but we hope her celeb pals are OK with her copying their designs.
She’s produced an exact clone of a Stella McCartney jumpsuit, a Dior feathered dress, a Saint Laurent fringed jacket and even a 2013 Prada dress (above right).
Stars have encountered problems by copying vintage designs before. Rachel Zoe drew criticism when it was discovered that her original designs were actually direct copies of fabulous dresses from her own, one-of-a-kind vintage couture selection.
However, this does mean that Topshoppers, including Australians for the first time, can get the look for far less, with a taste of Moss magic.
The Topshop Kate Moss collection is expected to be one of the hugest hits of the year, and whispers indicate that the Topshop servers are expected to go down within about an hour of the launch.
Will you be purchasing a replica of Kate’s exact wardrobe through Topshop?

Cara Delevingne Nabs New Film Roles
Our favourite supermodel rebel has embarked on the next stage of her career: acting.
And Cara Delevingne will rapidly be taking the film world by storm, if her upcoming five (!) film projects are anything to go by.
She already played a flirtatious young rival to Keira Knightley in Anna Karenina, and rumour has it that she’s been cast in director Joe Wright’s next effort, a reworking of Peter Pan entitled Pan. And she’ll be alongside some pretty spectacular acting talent: Rooney Mara, Hugh Jackman and Amanda Seyfried are all on board too.
And she’ll be donning period costume again for a film about the 17th century Dutch tulip craze, Tulip Fever. It sounds dull, but the tulip craze involved spectacular sums of money, intrigue and murder – and now, apparently, a supermodel in a petticoat.
As if that weren’t enough, she also has a role in the next Johnny Depp film, London Fields, alongside his fiancee Amber Heard, and will be in two indie films releasing later this year, Kids In Love and Face Of An Angel.
Nobody has really seen Delevingne stretch her acting wings yet – the Anna Karenina role was tiny, barely a speaking part. However, in a world where supermodels are writing books, starting lifestyle brands, launching albums and even (in the case of Christy Turlington) being honoured as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People for their charity work, it’s no longer enough to just be a pretty face.
Would you go see a film with a Delevingne headlining, or do you want Cara to stick to catwalking?

Celebrity Inspiration: White Shirts
It’s OCRF White Shirt Day on May 1, where white shirts are donned to raise money for ovarian cancer research – and Rescu. has put together your ultimate celebrity inspiration guide for nailing your look.
For the ultimate in casual, pick out an oversized look like Agyness Deyn, and work it with thin trousers and interesting shoes – we love her leopard-print flats. The key here is stole-it-from-my-boyfriend proportionality; make sure the length works for your body. Want something more polished? Do the rolled-up-sleeve, tucked-in look by Ashley Olsen. Accessorise with big glasses for the perfect paparazzi-ready look.
For daytime and work, it’s all about rocking the buttoned-up look. Aussie model Samantha Harris demonstrates our fave daytime white shirt look: prim and pretty, but with massive pops of colour in accessories. It’s a killer fashion look while also being massively professional.
More into fabulous coats and necklines? Copy Tilda Swinton‘s spectacular look at the Chanel show – a statement coat or blazer over a casually unbuttoned silk white shirt with golden buttons. Buttons and cufflinks become accessories on any white shirt, so pick them carefully and customise if you find any that you find interesting.
For night, nothing beats the white shirt inspiration of Angelina Jolie. A thick silk texture turns plain white into shimmering silver, and a plunging neckline balances long sleeves, showcasing some epic jewellery. She tucked it into a leather skirt, but if you’re feeling less badass, any high-waisted piece will do.
If you’re not feeling it, channel Patti Smith‘s famously androgynous Horses cover with a suit. Chloe Sevigny‘s transparency updates her evening suit-shirt from casual to chic, masculine-style. Or take the example of Kate Hudson and work ruffles – but pare them back and make them feminine, with an open neckline, black pants and scarce accessories.
Rescu. Recommends: Get your white shirt from the Witchery White Shirt Collection where 100% of the gross proceeds support Ovarian Cancer Research.
