Jeremy Scott’s New Moschino Ads: 1950s Dior And Supermodels
His first collection for Moschino riffed on consumer culture, incorporating McDonalds and fast-food labels into couture silhouettes.
And now Jeremy Scott has thrown a curve ball again.
His first ad campaign could have been splashy, neon and all about fast food – but instead he went very, very classical.
How classical? 90s supermodels, black and white, and an overt reference to Dior’s New Look.
He rounded up the cream of the supermodel crop, including Linda Evangelista, for crisp black and white photographs, and then posed models on a group shot including a ladder that clearly riffs on the famous image of Dior’s first New Look collection on a group of models in the 1950s.
It’s all part of Scott’s desire to turn the distinction between high and low fashion on its head. Putting trash in a classy context is his big trick – and the results are both confronting and beautiful.
By calling on fashion’s history for his very of-the-moment, off-the-wall latest collection, he’s making himself one of the most interesting designers out there. They all rely on the past for inspiration, but few with such self-awareness.
What do you think: fun statement or too much?
Battle Of The British Blondes: Cara Vs Cressida In Same Film
Cressida Bonas, Prince Harrys’ ex-girlfriend, has been cast alongside model Cara Delevingne in a new film.
And while the two likely won’t be competing romantically – Cara’s still dating Michelle Rodriguez – they’re being set up to fight for screen time.
It’s going to be a period drama – plenty of beautiful costumes afoot. The film is Tulip Fever, about the insane ‘tulip bubble’ in 1700s Holland, where a single bulb could make or break a fortune. It’s about forbidden love and sweeping romance.
Bonas and Delevingne will both play society ladies, but Delevingne has the jump on Bonas for acting cred: she’s already had a bit part in Anna Karenina and has other films coming out this year.
Daisy Lowe is rumoured to be in the film as well, so be prepared for a model onslaught.
What do you think: which one will prove the better actress in a corset?

Trust Your Stars To Kenzo’s Kenzodiac
Ever wished you could unite your star sign with your clothing?
Us neither – but Kenzo is doing it anyway, with their fun (and very odd) website Kenzodiac.
The very 90s site, complete with scrolling mouse and manga-inspired cartoons, takes every star sign and gives it personal, slightly dippy horoscopes.
Aries’s for this month is a meditation on ‘the smallest county in California’, Leo has facts about the word foofaraw, and Virgo is about Ethiopian runners. Why? We’re not entirely – or even faintly – sure.
However, the Kenzodiac’s main attribute is that it matches every horoscope with the best Kenzo item for that month.
For instance, Sagittarius is encouraged to wear their famous Tiger Sweatshirt this month. (We’re pretty sure that one will be a sell-out regardless of birth date.)
As far as buying strategies go, it’s not the worst we’ve ever heard. You might even be tempted to buy all twelve zodiac clothing pieces at once, and distribute them among differently-signed friends (or keep them for yourself, but that might be bad Feng Shui…)
Are you going to check your stars with Kenzo?
