The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations ended with a bang as international stars such as Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Cheryl Cole took to the stage before an enormous crowd to perform for Her Majesty.
The Queen looked noticeably subdued as she attended the Diamond Jubilee Concert wearing a dark cape and without Prince Philip as he recuperated in hospital.
Prince Charles gave a witty and heartwarming speech to the adoring crowd, adding, “The only sad thing about this evening is that my father couldn’t be here with us because unfortunately he has taken unwell.”
Australia’s and England’s sweetheart, Kylie Minogue performed to a full royal box at the custom made stadium in the palace fore-court. Dressed in signature style shorts, she donned a black play-suit with silver trim and entered the stage with her trademark skip before singing a medley of her hits including Spinning Around, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, Step Back In Time, and All The Lovers.
Earlier on, Her Majesty missed performances by Jessie J, hula-hooping Grace Jones, Cliff Richard, Welsh crooner Tom Jones and a duet by Gary Barlow and Cheryl Cole.
But the Monarch, along with Prince Charles and wife Camilla, Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, Prince Edward and wife Sophie enjoyed the singing styles of an uplifting Robbie Williams, a sparkling Shirley Bassey, and Elton John who offered the Queen his “congratulations on a great achievement”, came an amazing finale.
A show definitely fit for a Queen!
