RESCU: What is the role of Vitamin A in anti ageing skincare?
Belinda Besant: Many Vitamins are necessary to feed the skin but specifically Vitamin A works to repair and maintain skin tissues. A deficiency in Vitamin A can cause dry, flaky, wrinkled skin. Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A.
It supports natural cell turnover, helps stimulate the production of collagen and elastin (the skins support fiber) to enhance firmness and create smoother skin. It also works on the upper layers of the skin to improve cell metabolism – refining the skins surface to decrease the appearance of pore size and age spots.
RESCU: Why is the addition of oxygen important? How does it affect the Vitamin A?
Belinda Besant: The skin needs oxygen to look and perform at its best. Oxygen levels in our skin decrease as we age. For example, at the age of 30, oxygen levels in the skin drop by 25%. At the age of 40, oxygen levels in the skin drop by 50%. One of the best ways to revitalize the skin is enhancing the oxygen level. Having an optimal level of oxygen in the skin enhances the cell turnover process stimulated by retinol amplifying its effectiveness.
RESCU: Can all skin types benefit from this treatment?
Belinda Besant: All skin types can benefit. Oily skins would enjoy the skin refining benefits (minimising the appearance of pore size) and drier skins would enjoy the smoother skin that results from the increased cell turnover. As Cellular Power Charge Night contains hydrators and conditioners it leaves all skins feeling moist and comfortable.
RESCU: Where do other night time products and serums fit into this?
Belinda Besant: In order to work most effectively Cellular Power Charge Night must be used directly on a clean skin (after cleansing and toning), so a serum would not be applied under it. Also when used as a night time treatment it performs many “serum like” functions, working deep within the skin making it unnecessary to use a serum under or over it. As there are hydrating and nourishing ingredients included in the formula there is no need to use anything on top of Cellular Power Charge Night making it a complete treatment.
RESCU: Are there any contradictions for using Vitamin A and Oxygen?
Belinda Besant: Vitamin A and Oxygen compliment each other both working to improve cell metabolism thereby amplifying the benefits of the treatment. Stability issues between Retinol (Vitamin A) and oxygen have prevented the two merging in the past. La Prairie scientists have resolved this issue by placing the two in separate chambers, side by side. Contents are pumped out of the chamber and blended immediately before application, allowing the efficacy of Retinol to be enhanced.
RESCU: Oxygen skin care was a fad about 5 years ago and there were concerns about oxygen actually aging the skin due to its instability. How is this product different?
Belinda Besant: It is true that free radical oxygen is highly unstable. It is a reactive form of oxygen and can cause aging in the skin. This is in contrast pure, stable oxygen in Cellular Power Charge Night, which facilitates anti-aging.

Belinda Besant: Working with the daily functioning of the skin Cellular Power Charge Night is a year round product, used every night (except when using the intermittent booster Cellular Power Infusion 3-4 times a year) with initial results visible with several weeks. Each bottle is approx. 4 months supply (when using one pump each night)

We were introduced to this multi-benefit product last November during a facial treatment and continued to use it religiously over the festive season, summer holidays and well into February.
We noticed immediate plumpness from the first use but from 3 weeks into daily use of the product we started seeing the ‘wow’ effect. Skin texture is markedly improved as is the overall feeling of smoothness. The product absorbs instantly to the skin and has a pleasant clean scent.
Unlike other vitamin A products, we did not experience any tingling or reaction whatsoever and instead found the skin to be soothed and nourished every morning when we woke up. It’s quite fantastic to be able to ditch lots of products in favour of one excellent night treatment and whilst it’s tempting to want to add moisturiser over the top, the formula is very hydrating so you don’t actually need to unless you have super dry skin.There is also a very visible difference of combining oxygen with vitamin A and that is the plumpness and radiance in the skin.
