The spotlight’s on Ms Vernon – erotic jewellery designer, ex-model and professional vixen.
When Jean Paul Gaultier had a catfight staged on his 2009 fall/winter catwalk, a spectacular event in and of itself, many people wondered about the glorious dominatrix who stomped onto the catwalk to break it all up.
Wonder no more. Betony Vernon is a name to note – and Rescu. is a fan of her beautiful erotic jewellery line, Paradise Found.
You may fancy yourself a sexual connoisseur, but you ain’t got nothing till you’ve explored her world.
Ms Vernon herself is formidable. A sexual educator who hosts special ‘salons’ for the elite and curious, LA Couture describes her as ‘part Elizabethan virgin warrior, part Bettie Page’.
Her jewellery line is also prohibitively exclusive. Her pieces – a feather tickler known as the ‘pleasure puff’, a sado-chic masturbation ring and other such counter-intuitive delights – showed up most recently in Christina Aguilera’s Not Myself Tonight video, though Angelina Jolie has been known to wear a few, notably in Esquire.
Famously well-crafted – Vernon is herself a metallurgist – each piece is made of sterling silver, 18-carat gold, precious stones, and other materials you wouldn’t be ashamed to wear on a black-tie night out.
One of her mahogany and silver spankers will set you back $US1700, and a pearl-and-silver ‘massage ring’ is a cool $US800.
This is Vernon’s philosophy: sexuality as seriously luxe. She’s virulently anti-anything cheap, plastic, or crudely made without paying attention to the needs of the body.
A personal visit to her salon is only available to members of Paradise Found, and nothing inside can be photographed – but you can be assured that her craftsmanship produces some artistic delights. With members like Gaultier, though, the closest you may ever get to Vernon herself is her portrait gallery.
If you need convincing, Purple Magazine’s editorial in their Spring/Summer 2010 magazine features her designs. It’s a showcase of their beauty, design elegance and serious erotic potential. Check out the best shot.(Caution: NSFW.)
Feeling a little naughty and wanting to utterly spoil yourself? Explore online pleasure boutique Coco de Mer for her delights, and look out for her books – which promise to provide more than a little raise in temperature.
Hey, everybody deserves a little luxury.
