Exercise and sexuality go hand-in-hand. Lady Friday lays out your regime for intimacy…
So how can you keep yourself in tip-top shape in the bedroom? Lady Friday has all the answers.
Health in the bedroom isn’t just about being protected and not pulling a muscle. To keep your libido running, you have to take care of your body. Here are RESCU’s top tips.
Stretches
Being limber isn’t just for gymnasts. If your muscles are healthy and able to put up with stress, you can try imaginative positions – and not feel tired afterwards or have to stop.
Try some gentle yoga or easy basic stretches every few mornings, just to keep yourself from pulling anything. This is particularly important if you do very active exercise.
Stretches can help revitalise your muscles and let you feel more relaxed and ready for intimacy.
Cardio
Experts agree that cardio endurance is necessary if you want an active bedroom routine. If you’re puffing or feeling constricted, you won’t enjoy yourself.
It’s also a great stress reducer, so it can be a good idea to do some cardio when feeling particularly strained in order to give yourself more freedom to act up in the bedroom later.
Rescu. doesn’t recommend that you enthusiastically plunge into Olympic-level cardio workouts in the hope that you’ll be toned, taut and terrific for your partner – take it slowly or you’ll pull something.
Strength Training
This is an important one for anybody who likes to hold themselves in contorted positions. Your muscles need to keep you up, not let you down.
Try doing a basic strength workout with weight 2-3 times a week, and target those body parts you really want to strengthen for particular positions.
If you’d like to wrap yourself around your partner mid-air without support, for instance, focus on thigh and leg strength. And don’t worry about ‘unsightly’ bulking up – chances are your newfound strength will be much more captivating than any changes to your physique anyway.
Eating Correctly
Rescu. targeted aphrodisiac myths a little while ago, and debunked most of them – but that doesn’t mean eating correctly isn’t important for getting intimate.
For one thing, a good diet can influence the smell of your intimate areas – always a plus. For another, if you aren’t clogging your system or feeling weighed down as you digest heavy food, you’ll be more open to action in the bedroom.
This isn’t about being skinny or appearing attractive – it’s about feeling good, having a healthy glow, and eating foods which give you energy and ramp up your natural libido: lots of fruit, grains, protein and healthy fats. The healthier you are, the more rampant your libido can get and the more confident and strong you might feel in the bedroom.
Kegels
Rescu. can’t emphasise this enough – Kegels are brilliant. Clench the little muscles you use to stop urine, over and over again – they’re strengthening the pelvic floor with each application of tension.
After a while of doing Kegels, you’ll have an overall feeling of tightness and can clench and unclench at will, which gives great pleasure to partners and gives you more control over orgasms. If there’s one intimacy-related exercise to get into your routine, it’s this – and you can do it wherever you like, without breaking a sweat.
There are also vaginal weights for the more advanced among us who really want to push their pelvic muscles, but for beginners, Kegels are always the way forward.
