The headline news this month is probably the end of the current Mercury retrograde cycle on August 8, a super-powerful once-every-two-years link between Mars and Saturn and the move of the Nodes into Taurus/Scorpio. In your more in-depth forecast below, I will outline what this means for you and your sign but first I want to explain these phenomena in broader terms.

Firstly, the end of the Mercury reverse cycle might sound like nothing but good news, however, Mercury retrograde (like all astrology) is not something to be “wished away”. There is something fantastic and usable about anything and everything that happens up in them there skies! In the case of Mercury retrograde, it’s a chance to realign ourselves. Mercury is the mind planet and when it goes backwards, it gives us a chance to rethink and review. And although that can be tricky, because sometimes we end up questioning things we thought we were sure of, actually it’s what we need. In the same way that businesses have quarterly adjustments, we have Mercury reverse cycles three or four times a year.

So do use the first week and a day of August to work with the reverse energies.

Want some good news? On August 8, Mercury, the planet of communications will start going forwards again. So? Things should be less complicated from here on in, for a while at least. For you, Mercury has been going backwards in your FIRST HOUSE – that means your entire life has been subject to madness and mayhem as Mercury has played his funny little tricks (not) all over you. If life has been chaotic beyond belief of late, now you know why! This weekend, as Mercury changes directions, you can expect (or at least allow for the possibility) one last blast of mayhem. And after that? It’s smoother sailing. There will be fewer crossed wires, less drama and much, much less to-ing and fro-ing.

AND WHAT ABOUT MARS AND SATURN?

The meeting on Mars and Saturn in Libra is a red rag to us all. These two planets only meet up in this way about once every two years, so it’s big news. Mars is the planet of action and Saturn is the planet that puts the brakes on, so in some ways, when they meet up, there is room for frustration. It can be a bit like driving pedal to the metal with the handbrake on. So if you are feeling frustrated, breathe and remember that good things are worth waiting for… The upside of this link is quite different in many ways, though. It’s about giving some energy to you in a part of your life where you felt as though you had almost run out of steam.

For you, it’s all about your communications skills and the amount of positive thinking you allow yourself. Try a little harder for a little longer and the rewards will come. Use the lessons you have learned in the past!

Once that cycle is over, Mars moves back into Scorpio for the first time in two years… Here’s what that means for you …

There certainly are some sleeping dogs we need to let lie. Right now, though, if there’s an old emotional issue that you never managed to get sorted out, expect it to come back to the surface to be dealt with. Anger is always better out than in, by try not to blast people sky high if you get into some kind of argument with them – it’s probably not their problem. Mars here can stir up issues from as far back as childhood so it’s most likely unfair to blame someone else for your ‘stuff’. Own it. Your home and your family can also become a battleground if you’re not careful. Be nice.

AND SO TO THE NODES

The South Node is moving through your 10th House, which is all about your career and ambitions. The North Node is pushing into your 4th, which is the part of your chart which is all about your private life and your family, plus your past. This suggests that while it’s easy to lose yourself in your working life, that’s actually the last thing you should be doing right now. Your challenge is to push outside your comfort zone and to work hard on your personal life. Career success may come and go but it’s a successful private life which is going to bring you contentment and fulfilment now. Bear this in mind as you sort out your priorities.
