Looking to buy some new lingerie, and want to keep up with new trends? Rescu. has the top tips for shopping for new intimates this season.
Fashion in lingerie tends to be pretty unchanging.
However, there’s been a tidal wave and it’s not showing any signs of abating.
The big thing? Retro lines. If you’re wondering why so many underwear retailers are bringing out soft, full-coverage silk bras in Art Deco designs, rather than the usual balconettes and lace, the lure of the 40s is the reason.
High-waisted panties, garters and stockings are continuing to make their mark – many catalogues feature models with knee-length socks, a warm cardigan and delicate retro sets underneath, a trend to try in the cooler evenings of spring.
What else is happening? Neon is strong as a trend for people who want to make a mark. UK wunderkind designer Henry Holland’s just released a limited edition bunch of delicate lingerie which actually glows in the dark.
We hope that expands to other brands, but if you’re not looking to shine radioactively, check out ASOS for their lime-green and vibrant 80s numbers.
For a daring summer look, pair a neon bra with an open white button-down shirt and a vibrant tribal necklace. With a maxi-skirt and casual sandals, it’s bang on trend.
Leather is also an emerging trend, although it’s still on the outskirts – but keep your eyes peeled for panties with leather ties on the sides and bras with leather detailing, because it’s beginning to make it big.
We’re loving the bandage look of Herve Leger’s bikinis and hope they’ll make it into lingerie soon.
Laser-cut, lined leather is becoming less 50 Shades Of Grey, more everyday lingerie drawer. Are you ready?
