Aimee Mullins, Olympian, model and actress, is set to head Down Under for the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF). Steal the backstage styling secrets for a casual chic hair look, this time from the Antonio Marras A/W 2012 runway!
It comes as little surprise that L’Oréal Paris spokesperson Aimee Mullins is the special guest for the 2012 L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
For those who don’t know, Aimee Mullins is quite the Renaissance woman, not only stunning, but a record-breaking athlete, model and muse for Alexander McQueen, talented actress and a passionate lobbyist and charity worker. Did we mention at age 17 Mullins became the youngest person to hold a top-secret security clearance at the Pentagon where she worked as an intelligence analyst during her summer breaks?
Living a life that many can only dream of, Aimee’s dedication and determination is an example to everyone around her – one would never guess she had been hindered in any way by a limb anomoly she has had since birth.
Aimee joined the L’Oréal Paris family in 2011 and is more then qualified to stand beside fellow ambassadors including Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé Knowles, Gwen Stefani, Gerard Butler, Diane Kruger, Jane Fonda, Claudia Schiffer, Patrick Dempsey and Australia’s own Megan Gale.
While in Melbourne, Mullins will join Australian face of L’Oreal Paris, Megan Gale, in attending the coveted L’Oréal Paris Luncheon on 7 March, LMFF Welcome Reception at Government House and Opening Event on 8 March. Plus, both Aimee and Megan will be front-row for the much-anticipated L’Oréal Paris Runway One and L’Oréal Paris presents Alex Perry Runway shows.
Get your runway hair fix from the Antonio Marras A/W 12 show in Milan inspired by ethereal dreams of lightness.
The look was designed to be understated and a ‘light touch’ to compliment the rich details in the collection. “Antonio always has a strong narrative to his collections, like a beautiful dream, and I wanted to extend this dream like quality to the hair look. I wanted the hair to feel romantic, light and almost as if it was styled by nature, with a textured quality to it” said Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Care & Styling, Wella Professionals who created the look.
Get the Look:
1. Roughly dry the freshly washed hair with a blow dryer backwards away from the face
Rescu. suggests Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz takes away any remaining moisture in the hair and makes it light and fluffy with a ‘fly away’ feel.
2. Allow the hair to fall in to a natural centre parting, then brush back and tie in to a loose ponytail with elastic. Let the ponytail drop a little to form a ‘baggy’ underneath section.
3. Twist the ponytail and wrap it around itself, tying it into a knot, pulling the remaining hair through the knot, and pinning the knot into place.
4. Massage the ends of the knot with fingers to add a little lightness the blow the hair forwards with the dryer from the back of the head towards the front – while at the same time use hair spray in the direction of the air
