Princess Mary’s Weekend in Sydney
Princess Mary and her husband Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark landed in Sydney last week, and made their first public appearance at the Sydney Opera House’s 40th birthday celebrations last Thursday.
Since then, the royals have been making their way around Sydney, and making the day of many an Aussie.
On Friday they headed to Sydney’s inner west where they spent some time at Five Dock Primary School, before heading back to the Opera House for the opening of the Danish Design at the House exhibition.
Saturday saw more public appearances as the Tasmanian-born Princess and her Prince visited the Australian Twin Registry at the Sydney Children’s Hospital before an appearance to help launch the eSmart Homes Digital License, but it was Sunday when the royals really used their star power to boost morale.
The pair headed to Winmalee in the Blue Mountains where they met with volunteer firefighters and locals whose homes and businesses have been affected by the horrific fires.
After the visit, which residents had said gave them the first smile they’ve had in well over a week, the pair headed to the Sydney Opera House’s 40th Anniversary official reception and concert.
Tomorrow the royal couple will be departing Australia after their five-day trip.
Chris Brown Arrested in Washington
Chris Brown was arrested early on Sunday in Washington after a fight broke out near the W Hotel. Police spokesman Paul Metcalf reported that Brown, 24, was charged with felony assault in an incident that started just before 4.30am. He said, “There was a physical altercation, which resulted in the victim sustaining injuries.”
According to TMZ the fight broke out after two men rushed over and jumped in on a picture a woman was taking with Brown. It is said Brown then said, “I’m not into this gay sh*t, I’m into boxing,” before throwing the first punch.
A man was injured in the fight and taken to hospital, before being released early Sunday afternoon.
Brown is still on probation since the 2009 incident when he beat Rihanna just before the Grammy Awards, and the arrest could prompt additional penalties on the signer, including time in jail. He is due back in court on November 20 in Los Angeles to update a judge on his probation.
