The creative make-up artists at M.A.C have outdone themselves at RAFW. Their carefully applied make-up took us back to the Renaissance for Romance Was Born, then to the future with Kirrily Johnston. There were also fun freckles and fake lashes at Anna & Boy.
There was more than 1 look at Romance Was Born
Inspiration = “Renaissance Dinosaur”
Natasha Severino for M.A.C said, “The collection has been broken up into a ready to wear section and 11 Haute Couture, one off pieces.”
“The RTW section consists of beautiful, ethereal sirens that are adorned with lace body art. Faces are polished and eyes are lined to create mystical beauties. The 11 one off creatures has had make-up specifically created to be an extension of their magnificent gowns.
They were:
• Dino Bird
• Crystal Dress Volcano Girl
• Snake Guts
• Dino Tail
• Kate Tribute
• Renaissance Dino
• Dino Slut
• Renaissance Bride
• Scale Girl
• Nail Dress
All of which have their own character and personality.

LOOK 3: “Futuristic race” at Kirrily Johnston
Inspiration:
Natasha Severino for M.A.C says “the inspiration for this collection is about the concept of a future race.
“These creatures are wild but sophisticated. They are elegant animals. Their lives have been brought back to a primitive state so they spend time adorning each other.
We have always believed that the future would be about spaceships and technology and plastic and concrete, but the more we advance towards it, we are forced to see the role of nature and the importance of humans reconnecting with the earth.
This is reflected in the make-up. Earth tones and pigments are used to create and adorn the face and body as art. It is what we believe these future creatures of our earth would look like.”
LOOK 4: “Post-punk” at Saint Augustine Academy
Inspiration:
Karen Hopwood for M.A.C said “My make up inspiration is from a melting pot of subcultures that synergizes through a music venue called The Crystal Ball Room, which is from the post punk era.”
