Georgina Chapman really is that little girl who must have thought “when I grow up I want to be a Princess”…
But now that she is all grown up and living the life of a Hollywood Princess, her mission is to dress glamorous women on red carpets all around the world. Her Fall collection with business partner Keren Craig, like seasons before, carries out this dream.
Appropriately shown in the Chelsea Art Gallery, the designs are pure artistic delight. Inspired by dancer and courtesan Lola Montez, there is all the tulle, feathers, beading and ruffles expected, sculptured onto moulded gowns and finished with a new technique called ‘pinwheel pleating’, which adds swirling volume to the hem.
The collection revealed delicate grey, sorbet pink, vanilla and pale toffee colours. And there were also stronger colours, like magenta, black and scarlet to match the soles of your towering Louboutins – the only other item needed to accessorise these wearable art creations.
We are happy that there are so many awards season events coming up, giving stars the opportunity to waft down the red carpet in these whimsical and delightful creations.
