Mischa Barton was the first to surface in the exclusive VIP Birdcage area catching the paparazzi and guests in the Emirates marquee off-guard when she arrived 30 minutes early.
The O.C star was expected at midday but instead walked through the Emirates marquee door at 11.30am.
Barton, who has been busy launching a handbag line and opening a fashion boutique in Spitalfields, London, said she was loving the ‘relaxed’ atmosphere of the day.
After enjoying the comforts of the Emirates marquee, she watched the famous 3pm race from the Chairman’s Suite.

Stunning Australian Actress Rose Byrne was the next celebrity to appear wearing a no-fuss striped dress by Australian designer Alex Perry and accessorised with a Chanel headpiece and handbag!
As a guest of Lexus, the starlet said earlier this week: “I am thrilled to be attending this year’s Melbourne Cup as a guest of Lexus. I’m delighted to be back Australia for the Spring Racing Carnival, and I am looking forward to the trackside style and generous hospitality of the Lexus Design Pavilion.”
Myer Ambassador Jennifer Hawkins (above) stunned in a light purple and black Toni Maticevski dress and Australian singer Delta Goodrem (below) embraced pixie chic in a lace and tulle pink Dior dress teamed with a floral headpiece and nude flats.
Adding a Royal touch to this year’s Melbourne Cup Day was Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, who attended the big day as a part of their Australian Tour.
The Duchess of Cornwell presented the cup to the owner of winning horse Green Moon, while Prince Charles presented the Diamond Jubilee Plate, named in honour of the Queen straight after the famous 3pm race.
