This week has been an absolute feast of fashion pleasures. From the Melbourne Fashion Festival offering a peek at the most exciting designer collections, to news from beloved Australian designer Lisa Ho, there’s much to report in the world of style.
Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival
The fashion industry took to Melbourne this week for the Melbourne Fashion Festival, with the event offering a full week of sartorial delights.
Camilla Franks’ runway spectacular was one of the most anticipated events of the week, and although L’Wren Scott’s tragic death meant that Georgia May Jagger did not appear as planned, Australian darling Montana Cox stepped capably into her shoes. With an enigmatic soundtrack performed by the Victorian Symphony Orchestra, models resembled warrior women as they took the runway with all the theatre and colour one expects from a Camilla Franks’ show. Kaftans met kimonos in a collection that we’re still salivating over.
Other highlights included an elegant breakfast at Tiffany’s that even Holly Golightly herself would have been impressed by. New York pretzels were served to fashion’s elite with a side of diamonds in honour of the annual Tiffany Designer Award, which was presented to Victorian design duo Strateas Carlucci.
The Mimco show was another crowd favourite, with the popular label paying homage to Hitchcock’s thriller The Birds. Models emerged from a large gilt birdcage bedecked in Mimco accessories and striking trench coats. We can’t wait to embellish our own wardrobes with the transfixing jewellery on show.
Lisa Ho is Back – New Collaboration with Myer
We were heartbroken when Lisa Ho closed her label last year, so we couldn’t be more excited to share the news of her new collaboration with Myer, ‘L by Lisa Ho’. With a career in fashion spanning over 30 years, Lisa Ho is one of Australia’s most established and talented designers, and we can’t wait to see what she’s come up with for this new collection.
‘The new pieces in the L by Lisa Ho range will be modern and easy to wear with an urban edge,’ says Ho. ‘But of course still keeping with my signature style and essence.’
L by Lisa Ho will be available in 20 Myer stores and online from August this year.
