Australia is the place to be and not just because Melbourne ranked number one in the most liveable places! We’re in celeb heaven at the moment and devoting today’s celebrity spotlight to the locals.
First up, Men’s Style Australia magazine awarded their annual Men of Style list so we check out who topped it.
Ex-Model Gemma Ward has scored a role alongside Carey Mulligan and Leonardo Dicaprio in The Great Gatsby while Leo has been spotted having a romantic dinner with girlfriend Blake Lively!
Men of Style
Australia’s Men’s Style magazine and formalwear brand Zenetti hosted an exclusive launch party at The Cut Bar & Grill in The Rocks on Monday night to celebrate the launch of their annual Men of Style list, now in it’s third year.
The complete list will be revealed in the magazine on September 5 but editor Michael Pickering gave a few hints saying, “We include men as diverse as rapper Jay Z, actors Clive Owen and Simon Baker, local television personalities like Charlie Pickering and Daniel McPherson, sportsmen including Ian Thorpe, Nick Tiewoldt and Benji Marshall — all of them, in our estimation, in possestion of a strongly personal sense of style.”
Australia’s Nick Cave and gallery director have been awarded with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their unwavering sense of style over the years.
It’s not all complimentary, though. The list also includes a ‘Dishonourable Mentions’ section!
The list will be released the day after Father’s day so make sure your Dad is more Style List than Dishonourable Mention with our Father’s Day Gift Guide.
Gemma Ward in The Great Gatsby
After Heath Ledger’s death, Gemma Ward announced she was quitting modelling and moving to acting.
Since then, the gorgeous Perth girl has been quiet on the media front, saying earlier this year, “I have taken a break from the media spotlight for the past few years and it was something spurred by Heath’s death. (Heath and I) first met in New York and we were both struggling with things that I won’t get into, and we bonded over that.”
Now, the 24-year-old is getting ready to be thrust back into the spotlight with her first major role since The Black Balloon in 2008. Since then, Ward has acted in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides but only in small roles. Her upcoming role is, of course, in The Great Gatsby and although her character is yet to be revealed, sources say Ward will have a “significant” part in the film.
Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the classic is looking better and better!
Blake Lively and Leonardo Dicaprio’s Sydney Romance
It was a whirlwind trip down under for Blake Lively who flew in to Sydney only to fly back to America after just a couple of days to continue filming the Oliver Stone blockbuster Savages.
The Gossip Girl star came to visit boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio for a late 24th birthday celebration. The pair were spotted enjoying a romantic Sunday night dinner at Matt Moran’s famed restaurant Aria.
Onlookers said the pair looked stunning and very much like a couple in love.
Leo has been spotted cycling and working out with a personal trainer around Centennial Park as well as eating at French bistro Felix and Otto at Woolloomooloo Wharf.
Keep your eyes peeled, Sydney siders; you never know where Leo might show up!
